Abstract:
The "cleaning-out" capability of a flat combing machine is increased by decreasing the distance between the jaw of the tong of the flat comber and the points of the opposed rows of needles on the round comber to a minimum distance and keeping this minimum distance constant. The needles are arranged on the round comber such that the radius of the needle points of the rows of needles lying side by side to the pivot of the round comber decreases, then increases, counter to the direction of rotation of the round comber. The tong is suspended by a pendulum and the distance between the pivot of the pendulum and the axis of the round comber is less than the sum of the maximum radius needle points to the pivot of the round comber, plus the minimum distance from the jaw of the tong to the needle points, plus the radius of the jaw of the tong to the pivot of the pendulum.
Abstract:
A nipper unit for use in a combing machine includes a nipper frame defining a support surface. A lower nipper plate abuts against the support surface. A first portion of the lower nipper plate is fastened to the nipper frame via a fastening screw and a second portion of the lower nipper plate projects beyond the support surface. An area of the lower nipper plate at a transition from the first portion to the second portion is connected to the nipper frame by a resilient seal.
Abstract:
A combing machine includes a machine frame, drive unit, gearing mechanism, operating device, and nipper unit pivotably mounted in the machine frame and having a lower nipper plate with a nipper lip and an upper nipper plate. The combing machine also includes a pair of detaching rollers forming a clamping line, wherein a drive arm of the nipper unit is connected to an intermittently-driven nipper shaft in a rotationally-fixed manner. The nipper shaft is driven by means of a coupling element, which is connected to a driven gearing element. An adjusting device connected to the nipper shaft is provided for adjusting a distance between the nipper lip and the clamping line. The gearing mechanism also includes a fixation in a basic position with a mechanical blocking, and a sensor for measuring the distance or a variable proportional to the distance, and a display of the distance on the operating device.
Abstract:
The position of the gripper unit in a combing machine is monitored, and when the machine is to be halted its stoppage is controlled such that the machine halts always and only when the gripper unit is at its point of maximum opening or maximum closeness to the grabbing rollers. A position sensor (35) is associated for example with the rocker arm (18) which operates the gripper unit and provides pulses at each rocking movement of the arm (18). When the machine motor (27) is to be halted a braking action is produced by a brake (36) after a predetermined time or after measuring a certain number of pulses from the sensor (35) or on measuring a determined time interval between pulses, so as to effectively halt the machine with the gripper unit open.
Abstract:
A straight wool-combing machine (10) has, instead of the conventional pair of detaching rollers, a pair of jaws (30, 32) for gripping the combed end of a tuft and for separating it, by a withdrawal movement, from the rest of the fibre sliver (M). The pair of jaws (30, 32) has a suction fan (31) for transporting the combed fibres pneumatically to a collecting store.
