Abstract:
Modified polyolefins are produced by reacting a functionalized polyolefin with one or more ethylenically unsaturated compounds having a functional group reactive with the functional group on the polyolefin. These modified polyolefins may then polymerize in the presence of a photoinitiator upon exposure to ultraviolet radiation and also have the capability of copolymerizing in the presence of a photoinitiator with other ethylenically unsaturated crosslinking agents upon exposure to ultraviolet radiation. These modified polyolefins may also contain pendant carboxyl groups, which have the propensity to form hydrophilic salts with amines, and therefore may be rendered water-dispersible. The modified polyolefins of the present invention significantly improve the adhesion of paints, inks, and adhesives to various plastic and metal substrates.

There are provided a vinyl compound which is excellent in heat resistance and electric characteristics and excellent in reactivity by introducing a vinyl group into a terminal of a bifunctional polyphenyleneether oligomer, and a cured product thereof which has a high glass transition temperature, has a low dielectric constant and a low dielectric loss tangent and has the excellent properties of polyphenylene ether.
Abstract:
A method of manufacturing a water-absorbing shaped body that is produced easily without using a thickening agent. Light is radiated onto an aqueous solution including a photo polymerization initiator and a water-soluble ethylenically unsaturated monomer. When a desired viscosity is attained, radiation of the light is stopped temporarily. Then, the aqueous solution, which is thickened, is shaped into a desired shape. Thereafter, polymerization is completed by radiating light again.
Abstract:
Acrylic composition for use in variety of indoor or outdoor sealing applications, where it is required to seal, to fill or to repair cracks, joints, gaps etc. in concrete, masonry, stone, wood or other constructional materials. The composition comprises acrylic based reactionable oligomers and it can be foamed and then polymerized while producing foam with structure suitable for sealing.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a composition based on a heterogeneous PVDF and on an aromatic bis-imide that can be crosslinked by ionizing radiation, in which the heterogeneous PVDF is a copolymer of vinylidene fluoride (VDF) and a comonomer, the said heterogeneous PVDF comprising: one or more discrete domains of VDF-comonomer copolymer; one or more discrete domains of PVDF homopolymer containing at least 50% of the VDF of the heterogeneous PVDF; where the proportion of comonomer is between 1 and 20% by weight of the heterogeneous PVDF. Advantageously, the comonomer of the VDF in the heterogeneous PVDF is hexafluoropropylene (HFP).
Abstract:
Polyimide precursors contained in resin compositions of the present invention have a polymer structure unit represented by formula (1) below: 1 wherein chemical structure A2 includes an alicyclic compound but not an aromatic compound such as a benzene ring so that they provide excellent light transmission over a wide wavelength range. The polyimide precursors are imidized at 7.5% or more and 36% or less so that they are less soluble in developing solutions and therefore are not dissolved in the developing solutions at unexposed parts. Thus, the resin compositions of the present invention can be used to form a resin film having a precise pattern by exposure and development.
Abstract:
Zinc-complex photoiniators and applications therefore are disclosed. The zinc-complex photoinitiators of the present invention include various pendent groups which serve to protect the compound from hydrolysis. In this manner, the stability of the photoinitiator is increased. The photoinitiators of the present invention can be used in many different processes and applications. For example, the photoinitiators are well suited for use in photocurable inks as used in ink jet printers or on a printing press.
Abstract:
