    摘要: Process for the production of technical grade biuret, readily in a form suitable for use as animal feed, by the controlled pyrolysis of urea in two stages, the first stage involving the partial pyrolysis of urea at a temperature above the melting point of urea to produce a first stage intermediate reaction product containing from about 20% to about 60% urea, and not more than about 25% cyanuric acid by weight, such reaction product being then cooled and comminuted, the comminuted product then being subjected, in solid form and in the absence of a liquid carrier, to a temperature at or slightly below the softening point of the solid particulate (suitable at a temperature of from about 100.degree. C. to about 140.degree. C.) with forced air circulation through the comminuted product for a sufficient time to lower its urea content by partial sublimation of the urea and partial further reaction thereof to biuret with only minimal further conversion of urea to cyanuric acid. Crystallization and cooling of the molten intermediate product resulting from the first stage of pyrolyzation is advantageously accelerated by addition thereof of a powdered seed material, preferably including powdered feed grade biuret from a previous run, which additive serves to also increase the melting point of the product and thus increase the temperature at which it may be heated during the solid state pyrolyzation.

    摘要: The present invention relates to a process for the production of specific polyisocyanates by reacting diamines containing hydrogen atoms which are active in the context of the isocyanate addition reaction with excess quantities of organic diisocyanates. The invention also relates to a modification of the above process characterized in that the diamines are reacted first with excess quantities of a first diisocyanate after which the thus obtained reaction product which contains a urea group and a biuret group is reacted in a second stage with a second diisocyanate. The invention also relates to the use of polyisocyanates as the isocyanate component in the production of polyurethane plastics by the isocyanate-polyaddition process.

    摘要: The present invention is directed to light stable polyisocyanate adduct mixtures with an average functionality greater than 2.0 and an isocyanate content of between about 4 and 19 percent by weight based on solids, which has good compatibility with apolar solvents and good storage stability in a solution of polyisocyanate solvents. The polyisocyanate adduct mixtures are based on the reaction product of a polyisocyanate, preferably a biuret-containing polyisocyanate, with a first monohydroxy compound containing a saturated hydrocarbon chain of at least 8 carbon atoms and a second monohydroxy compound containing at least one polarity inducing group. Alternatively, both the saturated hydrocarbon chain and the polarity inducing group may be present in the same monohydroxy compound.The present invention is additionally directed to the use of the polyisocyanate adduct mixtures in the process of curing alkyd or acrylic resins and to compositions containing the adduct mixture and alkyd or acrylic resins.

    摘要: In a process of pyrolyzing urea in a reactor system through which a stream of inert gas is passed to accelerate the rate of pyrolysis by purging evolved ammonia therefrom, an improved method for recovering unreacted vaporized urea also purged by the gas stream with the ammonia which comprises passing the condensable vapors of an inert compound through the reactor (s), cooling the purged ammonia and urea containing vapor mixture to a temperature low enough to condense the vapors of the inert compound thereby minimizing the concentration of this component in the vapor mixture, but high enough to preclude urea condensation, feeding the resulting concentrated vapor mixture to a gas/liquid contacting column and contacting the same with fresh urea melt feedstock, thereby condensing a substantial amount of the urea vapor contacted, feeding the condensed urea along with the urea melt feedstock to the pyrolysis reactor(s), and passing the urea depleted effluent vapor mixture to a conventional ammonia recovery unit.
