摘要： The disclosure is of a cigarette or like packet of composite foil, with lateral end flaps separated from inner neighboring longitudinal end flaps but continuously connected with outer longitudinal end flaps and folded in between the inner and outer end flaps with the formation of overlying triangular lappets. For making and filling the packet there is an apparatus with winding mandrels to roll the foil into a tube, and a turret having devices for filling the tube and forming it into a closed packet by folding end flaps.

摘要： Two laterally spaced groups of cigarettes 11, 12 partially encased in tinfoil wrappers 27 are discharged from a chain conveyor 26 onto a reciprocating platform 33 by entraining members 24, 25. The groups are then discharged by pushers 42 onto a folding platform 32 until they strike a movable stop 75, at which position three of the four wrapper end flaps are folded and the two groups are laterally brought together. Thereafter the merged groups are fed into the open top or mouth of a packet 10 disposed in a pocket 14 of an indexable turret 15 by pushers 64, which simultaneously fold down the fourth wrapper flap.

摘要： A method of producing a container, such as a flip-top cigarette packet, is disclosed. The method includes the initial step of folding an elongate blank at a fold line so that first and second portions of the blank on respective opposite sides of the fold line are brought into mutually facing relationship, and the subsequent steps of folding the first such portion to form the main body of the container and folding the second such portion to form the lid of the container, the latter folding step being carried out whilst the lid portion remains hingedly connected with the main body at the fold line. Also disclosed is apparatus comprising respective folding means to perform the three folding operations referred to above.

摘要： Cigarettes are stored in one or more reservoirs (6) at a customer location. A computer receives customer orders and transmits them to a dispenser. Upon receipt of a customer order, a pre-selected number of cigarettes are automatically removed from the reservoir(s) by the dispenser and then automatically packed in a container by a packer comprising a collation mandrel (22) which is moveable relative to the dispenser. A preferred type of substantially air-tight, self-sealing container has a lid portion (68), a body portion (50) and a collar (58), which is mounted within the body portion (50). The body portion (50) is provided with one or more upwardly extending protrusions (56) on the upper surface of the base thereof. An air and moisture impermeable membrane (60) is sealed about the upper periphery of the collar (58).
