    摘要: A super-rigid hybrid airship having a modular structure with a central tube having a diameter of between 5 to 10% of the diameter of the airship, structural rings surrounding and preferably concentric with the central tube and connected to the tube by bolts; an external cover made from thin metal sheets, interspersed with composite resins and fibbers which is pressurized and pre-stressed by light gases and which is rigid, conductive, non-combustible and impermeable to gases; balloons filed with hydrogen and disposed in structural sections defined by neighboring structural rings; at least two interconnected cuffs inflated by atmospheric air serving as operational ballast and ensuring weight, pressure and volume balance of the airship. Preferably the airship has a blower system for dispersing air, arranged on the centerline of the top layer, wings arranged at each side of the fixed sections, and thrust means.

The airship may additionally include a computer configured to operate the valves to vary aerostatic buoyancy of the airship to achieve a desired lift force.

    摘要: A holding pattern determination system and method assists a pilot with visualizing, entering, and flying a holding pattern. An exact solution to the holding pattern problem simplifies the entry to and flight of a holding pattern with minimal circuits, regardless of the wind direction and speed. Utilizing a windspeed ratio and relative wind direction, at least an inbound wind correction angle, an outbound heading, and an outbound time that begins at the outbound heading independent from an abeam point is provided. An entry pattern graphic and a holding pattern graphic may be provided with turn by turn heading and timing instruction to ensure precise entry and holding pattern flight.

    摘要: The present invention is realized by apparatus and methods for placing a large rigid buoyant platform in the low stratosphere of earth's atmosphere at an altitude of about 20 km, above clouds, moisture, dust, and wind. The platform can serve several uses, either individually or in any combination. These uses include uninterrupted radio and light communications, radar and optical observation including very powerful radars and solar power electricity generation. Long, strong and light tethers connect the buoyant structure to the ground which hold it in position against wind forces. The electricity output from a photovoltaic array is used to power platform uses and can also be coupled to high voltage transmission lines which transmit power from the platform to the earth's surface during daylight hours. Power can also be transmitted up to the platform during darkness to power facilities mounted on the platform ensuring continuous operation.

The airship may also include a power supply system including solar panels operatively coupled to the electric motors and configured to supply power to the electric motors. The power supply system may also include batteries operatively coupled to the solar panels and configured to receive and store electrical energy supplied by the solar panels, the batteries being further operatively coupled to the electric motors and configured to supply power to the electric motors. The batteries may each be located within an outer envelope of the airship defined by the hull of the airship in a position selected to provide ballast. The solar-powered airship may also include a cargo system configured to contain passengers or freight.
