摘要: The invention relates to an arrangement for the detachable locking of a line (2) which is led out through an opening in, for example, a mast (55) on a sailing boat (6) in question and for enabling the line (2) to be led further to an existing winch on board. In accordance with the invention, a tension release device (1A) and a ferrule (1B) for the line (2) are formed by a common component. Each part of this common component (1) can be situated to either side (A and B respectively) of the wall (12) in the mast (5) and or a cockpit, through which a lead-in (11) for the line (2) extends.

摘要: A sail body (3), which can be finished along its edges and corners to create a finished sail (2), includes a number of sail sections(46) joined along their edges (47). Each sail section includes a reinforced material (20) laminated between first and second films (32,42). The reinforced material includes sectors of reinforced material (30,31), each sector having a set of generally parallel reinforcement elements (24), such as fibers. The sectors of reinforced material are preferably elongate sectors in which at least the majority of the sectors have lengths (34) at least five times as long their widths (36). The sectors are arranged in an overlapping pattern and so that the set of reinforcement elements are generally aligned with the expected load lines (28)for that section of the sail body. Sections can be made of different shapes but are typically triangular or quadrilateral. The reinforce material is typically a mesh or scrim containing sets of parallel, transversely oriented fibers (24,26). The mesh or scrim can either woven or unwoven.

摘要: A process for modelling a sail with a sandwich configuration and a three-dimensional convex shape, wherein the “mould” is formed by a semirigid film material which has a shape identical to that of the sail to be produced. On this kind of “parent sail”, a cloth is prepared by adhering, by means of a removable adhesive, synthetic weft (1) and warp (2) filaments onto the “parent sail”. This cloth will form the inner layer of the final “sandwich”. Two thin external plastic laminates are applied on the cloth, one on each side, after removal of the cloth from the “parent sail”. The thin external plastic laminates are applied in individual pieces adapted to follow the convexity of the cloth. The application of the external laminates is performed on a plane support.

摘要: A resilient, shock absorption assembly that mounts between available sail rigging lines and a boat hull. In one assembly, a piston is resiliently biased relative to a housing and contained spring to permit reciprocating movement. Couplers at distal ends of the piston and housing attach to suitable rigging lines and/or the boat. In other assemblies, resilient elastomer cores bias movement of a piston or cable. In another assembly fitted within a main sail boom, a cable biases the boom rigging lines. In still another construction, an “A-shape”, mast replacement framework is secured to pivot from a boat's deck. Resiliently biased cables act as a mast and support a sail boom. One or more separate resilient assemblies can be coupled to the sail. The cable mast and rigging lines are thus made resilient to counterbalance the boat against heeling with the presence of rough water and gusty winds.

摘要: An apparatus and method for guiding a sail while it is being hoisted on a sail-powered marine vessel are disclosed. The apparatus is a pre-feeder or feeder for use on a forestay, mast or foremast; the apparatus having two oppositely-facing members that are movable in relationship to each other thereby forming an adjustable opening for receiving and partially encircling the luff portion of a sail. The two members are movable about a hinge and a locking mechanism prevents the members from separating inadvertently. For use with a forestay, the pre-feeder is attached near the bow of the boat or directly to the forestay below the grooved track on the forestay and helps guide a the luff portion of a jib sail into the grooved track. The method of using the pre-feeder includes gripping the two members and pulling them apart, inserting the luff, closing the two members, and pulling on a halyard attached to the sail. The apparatus and method of the present invention can reduce the time required to hoist a sail and may be performed by a single crew member.

摘要: A spinnaker pole control system for a sailboat comprises an improved rigging arrangement, whereby the pole can be raised or lowered parallel to the deck, or dipped to allow jibing, by manipulation of a single control line. Improved pole control hardware simplifies preparation for flying a spinnaker and securing it when finished, and can be employed as a line stopper elsewhere.

According to the invention, the form of the battens (4—4) is so arranged as to vary depending on the wind and the desired form of the sail. This can be done as the sail is divided and built of several with between the segment is located as battens effecting connectable devices which are elastic across the connection device's length extension.
