Abstract:
The present invention discloses a folding propeller (1) for a boat, e.g. for a sailboat or a multihull yacht, where said folding propeller (1) comprises a hub (2) for directly or indirectly fastening at a driveshaft connected to a motor, where said folding propeller (1) further comprises at least three individual blades (3), where each of said blades (3) comprises a blade root (4) arranged to pivot around a separate pivot pin (9), at said hub (2) in order to be either in a first and operative position, where the blade (3) is pointing mainly in a radial direction, or in a second and inoperative position, where the blade (3) is pointing mainly in an axial direction, where said pivot pin (9) comprises a first and second end (20, 21), where said hub (2) comprises a cut out (19) for each of said blade roots (4), and further comprises a set of holes (10) for installing said pivot pins (9).
Abstract:
A propeller in particular for a ship has blades each of which is pivotally arranged in the hub of the propeller so that the blade is capable of pivoting to and fro in an axial plane between forward and rearward positions. The blades are constructed such that each of the blade profiles formed as the intersecting face between a cylinder face coaxial with a propeller and a blade, is symmetrical in a position between forward and rearward positions which are determined by fixed stops in the hub and/or the simultaneous actions of the centrifugal force and the hydrodynamic pressure on the blade at a predetermined speed of rotation. This imparts a high efficiency and a quiet and steady operation to the propeller, when the ship navigates forwardly and rearwardly.
Abstract:
A propeller for a boat having a plurality of recesses and a plurality of land portions arranged circumferentially alternately around an outer periphery of a propeller boss which is fitted over and connected to a propeller shaft. A boss of each of propeller blades and each of blade shafts disposed parallel to an axis of the propeller boss to rotatably support such propeller blade are accommodated in each of the recesses, and each of the land portions is provided with an exhaust passage extending axially through the land portion to permit an exhaust outlet in a body of a propelling device to be opened at a rear end face of the propeller boss. Thus, it is possible to discharge an exhaust gas from an engine through the inside of the propeller boss into water.
Abstract:
A boat propeller with foldable blades, a so-called folding propeller, in which the mounting axes of the blades in the hub are inclined towards the rotational axis of the hub, so that the blades are movable between their folded and unfolded positions by rotating essentially one-half turn.
Abstract:
A foldable marine propeller assembly is disclosed having a pair of interengaged housing members that are releasably secured together by fasteners, locking the blade mounting swivel pin in blind sockets when so fastened, and that cooperatively define a recess for the securement nut to a drive shaft extending into the housing, the nut being retained against rotation.
Abstract:
The present disclosure relates to a folding propeller, comprising a hub, which may be driven via a drive shaft around a rotation axis, at least two propeller blades, which are pivotably arranged on the hub between a folded position and an unfolded position, and a propeller blade arresting means, which is configured for arresting the propeller blades in the unfolded position, wherein the propeller blade arresting means is movable relative to the hub in rotation direction between a starting position and an arresting position.

Abstract:
A variable pitch marine propeller having a plurality of circumferentially spaced apart blades mounted on axles at the root portion of the blades in a hub to permit independent movement of each of the blades about an axis of rotation substantially parallel to the axis of the hub between a first nested position adjacent the hub and a second extended position. Each of the blades includes leading and trailing striking surfaces or root segments on the root portion of the blades which are hub engageable upon initial rotation of the blade in either direction. Intermediate the leading and trailing segments of the blades are positioned cushioning means which may be mounted in either the hub or the blade root segments for inhibiting the shock of engagement of the blades and the hub upon initial start up of rotation of the hub or upon a sudden reversal of rotation of the hub. The cushioning means includes water entrance and graduated exit means with means to capture water therein to act as a shock absorber for the blades against the hub.
Abstract:
A propeller such as a ship's propeller or screw comprises at least one propeller blade, and a propeller drive shaft. The propeller blade is mounted on the propeller drive shaft by employing a hub having a free end secured on the propeller drive shaft. The hub is provided with a central bore in the free end thereof. A pivot axis is defined mounted within the hub and perpendicular to the axis of the drive shaft. The pivot axis comprises a pivot shaft. The blade is pivotally mounted about the inner end of the blade freely about the pivot shaft, the pivot shaft intersecting the longitudinal direction of the blade. Abutment means for the blade are provided for limiting the free pivotal movement of the blade between two extreme positions at either side of the position in which the propeller blade extends substantially perpendicular to the axis of the shaft. The abutment means comprises a pair of abutment members secured in the bore to serve as abutments for the blades. The abutment members can be adjusted by a clasp nut mounted within the central bore. The abutment members are removably secured to the clasp nut, and has an abutment face for limiting the free pivotal movement of the blade.
Abstract:
A propeller for a powered boat wherein the blades of the propeller are open through centrifugal force to propel the boat and are closed when the boat is not being powered so as to reduce drag on the boat. The blades are maintained in the closed position by operation of ceramic magnets disposed adjacent the tips of the blades.
