Abstract:
There is provided a method for manufacturing a coating instrument provided with a filling member having a filling region in which a coating material is filled and a body portion including an extruding portion inserted inside so as to be brought into close contact with the filling member and constituting a rear end of the filling region, in which the coating material is discharged from a discharge outlet on a tip end side of the filling member by advance of the extruding portion, including a step of filling the coating material into the filling region of the filling member from behind in a state in which a front side of the filling member is located below the rear side, a step of feeding a predetermined amount of air from the discharge outlet into the filling region so that a space is formed on the tip end side in the filling region after the coating material is filled, and a step of assembling the body portion to the filling member after the air is fed.
Abstract:
A ballpoint pen tip in which ink grooves are formed around an ink guide hole at equally distributed places, the ink guide hole connecting a ball house and a back hole of a holder for holding the writing ball, and the ink grooves radially penetrate through from the ball house side to the front end portion of the back hole. Inward protrusions are formed at positions which are respectively in contact with the rear ends of the ink grooves. If the inner diameter of the ink guide hole is A, the inner diameter of the front end portion of the back hole is B, the diameter of the circle circumscribing the ink grooves is C, and the diameter of the circle inscribing the inward protrusions is D, their relationships are A
Abstract:
A roller ball pen for use with metallic inks, and a method for assembling the roller ball pen for use with metallic inks, is described herein. The pen body includes a housing that encloses a reservoir, a collet, a feed rod, and a tip. The feed rod transfers ink from the reservoir to a roller ball tip at a tapered end of the pen housing. In embodiments, the feed rod is embedded at a threshold distance inside the reservoir to provide an increased surface area for transfer of a metallic ink suspension. In further embodiments, a method of assembling the roller ball pen includes saturation of the reservoir with a metallic ink based on inserting a particular injection needle at a particular depth inside the reservoir.
Abstract:
A writing instrument includes a nose section that is releasably connected to a barrel housing portion that contains an ink reservoir, in the form of a replaceable cartridge, for holding ink for delivery to a writing nib. The nose section is releasably connected to the barrel housing portion with a magnetic-mechanical connection assembly to allow easy access to the replaceable cartridge.
Abstract:
A writing instrument includes a nose section that is connected to a barrel housing portion that contains an ink reservoir for holding ink for delivery to a writing nib. A cap may be releasably secured to the barrel housing portion with a first magnetic-mechanical connection assembly to cover the nib to protect the nib from damage and to prevent ink evaporation. Similarly, the nose section may be releasably secured to the barrel housing portion with a second magnetic-mechanical connection assembly for accessing a replaceable ink cartridge that includes the ink reservoir.
Abstract:
A novel writing utensil in which an ink holder unit can be inserted into, and extracted from, a housing/main shaft. Helicoid screw threads are formed on the outer circumferential surface of a coupling portion of the ink holder unit or an inner circumferential surface of the main shaft. The main shaft or the outer circumferential surface of the ink holder unit without the screw threads is made of an elastic material for allowing the screw threads to bite thereinto. The coupling portion of the ink holder unit can be threaded into the main housing or pressed in a straight line thereinto. The ink holder unit can be extracted by relatively rotating the ink holder unit and main housing.
Abstract:
An apparatus for facilitating the manufacture of various different configurations of marking instruments which utilizes a uniquely configured nib holder which includes a media transfer channel therethrough along with a nib mounting ring and securement prong or finger apparatus for facilitating the mounting and retaining of a marking nib therewithin. A conventional marker barrel being generally tubular with end openings is included which can be used for forming either single or double ended marking pens which share a common marking media reservoir or have different media used therewith. The nib mounting ring of the nib holder is designed to orient the nib centrally within the media transfer channel at the nib holder and the securement prongs are adapted to abut and grip the nib holder for retaining in position therethrough and preferably in abutment with respect to a conventional generally fibrous marking media reservoir. With the apparatus of this invention the same barrel and nib holder configuration can be utilized to form conventional single ended markers with stamping nibs or marking nibs as well as double ended markers with any combination of stamping and/or marking nibs for use therewith. In this manner, numerous different configurations of marker apparatus can be manufactured utilizing the same basic configuration for the barrel nib holder, nib and cap used therewith.
Abstract:
Methods and tools are disclosed for disassembling hand made, high quality writing instruments. Hand made, high quality writing instruments are typically comprised of several different components. The methods and tools allow the individual components of a writing instrument to be disassembled without marring or destroying the components of the writing instrument. The tools for disassembling a hand made, high quality pen comprise a first shaft for removing the pen tip, and a second shaft and spreader for removing the internal mechanism of the pen without destroying the pen's internal mechanism or marring the surface of the pen body.
Abstract:
A four part writing instrument mechanism includes a one piece synthetic anchor bushing and a one piece synthetic cartridge shuttle which are axially movable with respect to each other. A metal driver with a helical section engages a groove in the shuttle for moving the shuttle axially. The driver is axially fixed but rotatable on the anchor bushing. A writing cartridge, such as a ball point pen cartridge, is fixed to the shuttle and has a writing point which is extendable from and retractable into an opposite end of the anchor bushing.
