摘要: As a substitute for a plastic so-called "jewel box" holder for a compact disc (CD), a holder entirely of biodegradable cardboard construction material (1) fabricated from a blank (2) delineated into panels (3) folded into a multi-ply configuration having a compartment for the CD (4) die-cut out of the configuration using a so-called "kiss cut" which provides the compartment sized and shaped to have the CD seated therein on a bottom compartment closure provided by one of the panels left intact using the "kiss cut" die-cut, such that the attributes and fabrication options of cardboard construction material are used to maximum advantage.

摘要: In the production of (cigarette) packs of the hinge-lid type, supplying a sufficient amount of material to the packaging machine presents a particular problem. In an advantageous solution, blanks (20) for producing the packs are severed from a continuous web of material (24) with punchings for delimiting the blanks (20) and further processed within the packaging machine. For the efficient production of (individual) blanks from the continuous web of material (24), the latter is fed to a blank station (26), in which preferably two respective blanks (20a, 20a) lying next to one another are severed by shearing from the following web of material (24) and from one another by means of severing rams (29). The two blanks (20a, 20b) so formed and individually separated are then fed to a folding turret (40), specifically appropriately with an intermediate conveyor in the form of a rotating blank turret (43) being interposed. The blank turret (43) is appropriately designed so that by means of rams (45, 46) movable in the radial direction or downwards the blanks are lifted off from the blank turret (43) and, at the same time being partially folded, can be introduced into turret pockets (41, 42) of the folding turret (40).

摘要: In the manufacture of a package used to hold liquids, wherein the package has a perforated or punched-out rip-out opening or a point at which a drinking straw can be inserted, wherein a cardboard web is coated on one or both sides, printed and processed into packages, the improvement which comprises advancing the web past a station prior to coating, and at such station punching or perforating the web at predetermined intervals at predetermined points while simultaneously applying to or impressing into the web register marks, whereby such register marks serve to ensure proper location of the subsequently applied print relative to the punched or perforated points. This differs from prior processes in that it involves perforating the cardboard web prior to both coating and printing, and thus is a simpler process resulting in a superior product.

摘要: A shipping and display container includes, for example, a first tray element and a second tray element, each tray element having a tray element bottom panel and a tray element back panel, a bridge element disposed between the first and second tray elements, the bridge element having a first center panel and a second center panel. The first and second center panels are accordion-foldable between a first position confronting one another and a second position extending in a common plane. The shipping and display container further includes a cover element for covering a space between the first and second tray elements. The first tray element, the second tray element, the bridge element and the cover element are interconnected as a single unit, and no adhesive materials are required for assembling the container, and wherein all of the elements are integrally formed in a single blank or sheet.

摘要: The composite structure includes a fiber-containing layer, such as a fiberboard layer or other layer having fibers from natural and/or synthetic sources, and a mineral-containing layer covering the fiber-containing layer. The fiber-containing layer and mineral-containing layer can be shaped, sized and manufactured such that the composite structure formed therefrom is capable of being machined to form a storage article. The composite structure has advantages in that it can improve whiteness, opacity, ink adhesion, materials reduction, barrier properties, recyclability, and printability. The composite can reduce polymer mass requirements for heat seal, barrier, and fiber adhesion. Further improvements include economics, pliability, and flexibility that is increased over the pliability of the fiber-containing layer alone.

摘要: A method for obtaining wrapper sheet blanks from a continuous web having opposite parallel edges, wherein each blank is composed of first and second portions, the first portion having the shape of a rectangle and the second portion having the shape of a non-rectangular parallelogram joined to the first portion along a common imaginary edge. The method includes making a plurality of first cuts in the web which are spaced apart from each other in a direction parallel to the opposite parallel edges of the web, each first cut producing a first cut edge which is perpendicular to, and contiguous with one of the opposite parallel edges of the web and wherein each first cut edge constitutes an edge of a respective one of the first portions of the blanks; and making a plurality of second cuts in the web which are spaced apart from each other in a direction parallel to the opposite parallel edges of the web, each second cut producing a second cut edge which is inclined relative to, and contiguous with both a corresponding one of the first cut edges and the other of the opposite parallel edges, and wherein each second cut edge constitutes an edge of a respective one of the second portions of the blanks.
