Abstract:
A tool is provided that includes unitary plate that includes a blade portion and a tang portion. The blade portion can include an edge. The tang portion can include a positioning hole, a first hole, a slot, a second hole, a rivet hole, and one or more teeth (also referred to as one or more barbs) on a side of the tang portion. The tool can further include a hilt member which includes a through passage, a tab, and a notch. The tool includes an overlay on a body to create a handle for gripping the tool. The tool further includes a hammerhead cap on an end of the body, the hammerhead cap is coupled to the handle with a rivet through the rivet hole.
Abstract:
A handle configured to be attached to a pumice stone. The handle includes a gripping portion and a post extending from the gripping portion. The post is configured to support the pumice stone. The post includes a support member, a series of ribs spaced apart along a length of the support member, and a series of cavities defined between adjacent ribs. The cavities are configured to accommodate an adhesive for coupling the post of the handle to the pumice stone.

Abstract:
A dustpan apparatus having a debris receiving member, a quick release adaptor member and a handle member. The debris receiving member has an enclosed wide body with a front lip and a pivotable bracket which is movably connected at opposite sides of the enclosed wide body. A threaded shaft is centrally located on the pivotable bracket, where the quick release adaptor member is adapted to be threadedly connected to the threaded shaft of the pivotable bracket. The adaptor member has a connection member for receiving and detachably attaching the handle member thereto.
Abstract:
A specialized handle for hand held utensils adapted for use by individuals including those having physical impairments such as arthritis or poor motor skill functions is provided. The specialized handle which is typically formed from an elastomeric or plastic material has a substantial rectangular shape in cross-section along a first end and along a second end. The body of the handle has a narrow first end and an enlarged second end wherein the body tapers downwardly from the second end to the first end. The handle is also provided with a plurality of radially extending flanges located along the first end which provide a positive stop which precludes the undesired movement of the user's hand beyond the first end.
Abstract:
The handle of a maul is attached to the head of the tool within an eye in the head. A U-shaped retaining member straddles a connecting portion of the handle within the eye. The space within the eye between the handle and the head is filled with epoxy cement in which the retaining member is embedded. The retaining member coacts with the handle and the head to increase retaining force therebetween when pull-off force is applied to separate the handle from the head.
Abstract:
An impact tool, such as a hammer, having a head with a tapered eye therethrough, is attached to a handle by means of longitudinal notches extending from the end of the handle inserted into the eye, the notches having longitudinal surfaces which diverge to match the taper of the eye and receiving inserts which fill the notches and the space between the longitudinal notch surfaces and the corresponding taper-forming side surfaces of the eye. Shock absorption is provided by elastomeric material filling the voids between the handle and the head of the tool.
