摘要: A method of cutting a workpiece with a band saw is disclosed herein. The method includes rotating, with a band saw machine, a blade about a central longitudinal axis. The method also includes moving, with the band saw machine, the blade and a workpiece relative to the other to form a cut in the workpiece. The method also includes supporting a back edge of the blade at a first position before a lateral entry position of the cut or a second position after a lateral exit position of the cut with a first back support member. The method also includes extending an extension arm of the first back support member to shift the back edge a first distance rectilinearly along the central longitudinal axis toward the workpiece, wherein the shifting is cumulative to rectilinear movement from the moving.

A working-side running area of the band saw blade and a working-opposite-side running area of the band saw blade are positioned within the cutting fluid reservoir, and the upstream end of the discharge table is positioned on a downstream side from a wheel center line connecting centers of the pair of saw blade wheels.

摘要: A mechanized coping saw has a frame and handle attached thereto, the frame including a U-shaped portion with opposite leg sections having outward ends, a cavity formed within the U-shaped portion, and apertures proximate the outward ends of the leg sections which open into the cavity. An endless blade travels through the cavity of the U-shaped portion around rotating elements with a portion of the blade extending straight between the leg sections to define an exposed blade cutting section, A power drive system drives the blade through the cavity. The invention uses a pair of guide rollers which are placed along the profiled edge of a molding piece to steadily guide the blade cutting section for precise coping of the molding piece. The rollers are adjustable to provide for a variety of different cutting angles and situations. Another embodiment utilizes an elongated arced guide arm to extend longitudinally along the exposed blade cutting section for guiding and steadying the blade, Another embodiment includes a blade section cover pivotally mounted to move outwardly from the blade cutting section to expose the blade during coping.

摘要: A mechanical, infinitely variable blade speed drive for a band saw is provided with a speed control which includes a variable pitch drive pulley with axially adjustable sheave spacing to vary the drive ratio between the drive pulley and the driven pulley and a control shaft parallel to the drive shaft of the motor which carries the drive pulley. The control shaft extends to the front portion of the band saw so that the speed adjustment control carried thereon is readily accessible to the band saw operator without moving away from the front portion of the band saw during its operation.
