摘要: Band saw apparatus is disclosed which includes cutting enhancement apparatus formed for tilting of the cutting stretch of the band saw blade to vary the force per unit area of the cutting edge of the blade on the workpiece. The cutting enhancement apparatus which tilts the blade at both guide assemblies is shown. The saw carriage is movably mounted to the remainder of the saw to be substantially free to rebound or move away from the workpiece during tilting of the blade to avoid digging in or shearing off of the blade teeth and to permit close spacing of the blade guides next to the workpiece. The saw includes a feed control system having both an orifice control circuit and a support force control circuit. A method is disclosed which is comprised of using the support force circuit to vary the rate of cutting during the cut to prevent overloading of the blade and/or stalling of the machine. Sensors feedback signals which adjust the support force circuit to control feeding.

摘要: Band saw apparatus is disclosed which includes a drive assembly formed for support and guided movement of a saw blade for cutting of a workpiece, an endless band saw blade mounted to the drive assembly, and reciprocation apparatus formed for reciprocation of the blade toward and away away from the workpiece to enable see-sawing of the blade and variation of the force per unit area of the cutting edge of the blade on the workpiece while maintaining the same total force on the blade. To enhance toward and efficiency of cutting the blade drive assembly is mounted to the remainder of the saw to be substantially free to rebound or move away from the workpiece during reciprocation to avoid digging in or shearing off of the blade teeth and to permit close spacing of the blade guides next to the workpiece. The saw includes a control circuit for controlling the rate of movement of the saw arm away from and toward the workpiece to enable timing of saw arm rebound to blade displacement. The blade guides are reciprocated by the fluid piston-cylinder assemblies in synchronism or out-of-phase to vary the amplitude, frequency, speed and dwell during displacement independently of blade speed and at two locations along a length of the blade so as to produce see-sawing oscillation as well as simple reciprocation. The blade guide assemblies are provided with displacement means to permit guide assembly adjustment during cutting to maintain the guide assemblies in close proximity to the workpiece. Alternative blade displacement assembly constructions and a method for cutting workpieces employing the apparatus also are disclosed. The method includes variation of the feed rate of the saw blade down through the workpiece as a function of the width of the workpiece.

摘要: A rectangular base plate has a arcuate opening within one side terminating in a narrow arm which projects within the opening and adjacent the one side, with the tip of the arm acting as the vertical pivot point for the plate outside and free of a band saw blade with the plate resting on the band saw table. A pivot pin fixed to a slide mounted to the table forms the pivot axis for the plate at the inner end of the projecting arm with the slide being movable towards and away from the band saw which passes through a semicircular opening within the band saw table. An Lshaped bracket adjustably mounted to the base plate carries a Vblock pipe holder whose angle of inclination may vary and which supports the pipe to be severed such that the pipe axis intersects the base plate pivot axis. By adjusting the position of the slide and the angle of inclination of the V-block, the pipe may be cut at a desired angle and radius of cut by swinging the plate about its pivot axis.

摘要: The invention provides a metal-sawing machine including a guide frame vertically movable with respect to a work to be cut, a saw carrier capable of rocking in the cutting plane with respect to said work, a pair of servo-cylinders one on the left-hand section and the other on the right-hand section of said saw carrier, each of said servo-cylinders being connected at one end to said guide frame at a first pivotal point while the opposite end thereof is connected to said saw carrier at a second pivotal point, a rocking motion control means for alternately differentiating the distance between said first and second pivotal points of each of said servo-cylinders, and a guide means for preventing said saw carrier from horizontal displacement with respect to the line of cutting action of the saw blade while in its rocking motion.

摘要: A cutter that can be mounted to a workpiece for cutting a cope at a prescribed arc at a selected radius and angle. A support frame mounts a band saw for pivotal movement about a first axis, parallel to the saws cutting flight. The support frame is mounted to a central workpiece clamp for pivotal movement about a second axis that is parallel to the first. The clamp secures the workpiece to the support frame, centered on a plane parallel to the first axis. The saw blade can thus be swung through an arc representing the outside diameter of a second workpiece that is to intersect at a prescribed angle with the clamped workpiece.
