Abstract: An exercise device (10) for swallowing rehabilitation with a variable resistance, the exercise device (10) comprising an exerciser body (20) forming a support, chin receiving means (30) movably connected to the exerciser body (20), exercising means (50) for creating resistance when the chin receiving means (30) is moved towards the exerciser body (20), and a lever arm (32, 70) connected to the exerciser body (20) via a fulcrum (45, 75) and configured to interact with the exercising means (50), wherein the exercising means (50) or the fulcrum (75) is displaceable to provide a variable resistance against movement of the chin receiving means (30) towards the exerciser body (20).

Abstract: A vocal training device comprises a generally cylindrical hollow body. The generally cylindrical hollow body has a first open end, a second open end, a first tube member and a second tube member. The second tube member is configured to be telescopically inserted into the first tube member, such that the length of the generally cylindrical hollow body of the vocal training device is adjustable. The vocal training device also has a connector having a portion that is configured for removable connection to the second open end of the generally cylindrical hollow body of the vocal training device and a portion configured for removable connection to a vocal training attachment member. The vocal training attachment member can be an aperture reducing attachment, a variable aperture reducing attachment, a breath visualisation attachment, a water resistance voice therapy training attachment or an oscillating resistance generator.

Abstract: Provided herein are devices and methods for analysis and/or exercise of a body region of a subject. Such devices may include a guide arm supported by a support frame; a receiving surface supported by the guide arm, the receiving surface for receiving input force from the subject; and a motor assembly in communication with the guide arm, the motor assembly controlling movement of the receiving surface based on received input force. Exercise and/or analysis methods described herein may include steps of instructing the subject to apply an input force to a receiving surface; sensing the applied input force over time; and controlling movement of the receiving surface based on the received input force using a motor assembly, whereby the motor assembly moves the receiving surface in a pre-determined direction, so long as the input force remains within an allowable tolerance, until a pre-set end position is reached.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for automating neuromuscular training may be used in conjunction with a human trainer or by a person training alone. The apparatus and method may be applied to various forms of neuromuscular training. The apparatus may be employed by a person desiring training in an environment with a human trainer as well as, or alternatively, in a home environment for personal training. Embodiments enable training of relative motions between body parts such as the head, neck, shoulders, upper torso, lower torso. These relative motions may be linear and/or angular. Pressure/sensor assemblies facilitate both the suggestion of desired motions as well as sensing of the person's neuromuscular response to these suggestions.
