摘要:
A cremation container foldable into a compact configuration for shipping comprises a bottom, a pair of side walls connected to the bottom, a pair of end walls connected to the bottom, and a lid removably positioned atop the pair of side walls and the pair of end walls. Each wall of the pair of side walls and each wall of the pair of end walls comprises an upper panel and a lower panel hingedly connected together. The upper panels of the pair of end walls are foldable downwardly toward the bottom, and the upper panels of the pair of side walls are foldable downwardly atop the upper panels of the pair of end walls to thereby compactly configure the container for shipping.

A cardboard material casket including a cardboard material inner box having a bottom, two opposed sides and two opposed ends. A cardboard material outer wrap has an outer directed side with a finish different from a finish of the cardboard material inner box. The outer wrap has a bottom located below the bottom of the inner box. Side and end walls of the outer wrap extend from the bottom of the outer wrap up and over outer surfaces of the side and end walls of the inner box and then down and over inner surfaces of the side and end walls of the inner box. The outer directed surfaces of the bottom and side and end walls of the casket box and inner surfaces of the side and end walls of the casket box present the finish of the outer directed side of the outer wrap.

A lightweight structurally sound casket formed preferably of a sandwich construction using a core of an open cell or honeycomb patterned material and fluid resistant surface elements. The casket is comprised of a body containment portion and a lid portion, each of which has the sandwich construction as the main structural element. The open cell material is structurally enhanced by being sandwiched between first and second stabilizing surface elements in both the body containment portion and the lid portion. In addition to the stabilizing surface elements, an aesthetically pleasing material is adhered to the outer portions of the body containment section and lid so that the casket has an attractive appearance. The body containment portion is constructed from rectangular pieces of the open cell material and stabilizing surface elements by folding the same into a box-like configuration. The lid portion is formed from placing the open cell material and the stabilizing surface elements into a jig, applying adhesive between the elements and finally, applying pressure thereto for adhering the elements together. As a final touch to the casket, ornamental features such as corner pieces and handles are added to the casket for aesthetic effects. The casket is environmentally safe for cremation and interment ceremonies and is economic and lightweight.

A casket is made by covering one side of a flat precursor blank of corrugated fiberboard with a liquid-impervious flexible liner and the other side with a pliable decorative cloth, shipping the thus-covered blank to a point of use, and then folding it up into a complete lined and covered casket. Appropriate foldable flaps are provided at the ends of the precursor, and framing strips are secured along the sides of the blank for support prior to folding-up of the casket precursor to form the casket. The end flaps are held in their folded-up positions by manually insertable fasteners, and the hinges for the lid of the casket are secured by hand-stapling to the tops of the framing members. The triangular folds formed in the liner at its corners when it is fold up are tucked between the end flaps as they are being folded. The entire casket body can be shipped as a flat blank, and easily assembled manually at a remote location by unskilled persons.

A casket assembly including a liner arranged to nest securely within an outer casket. The casket is provided with releasable support means whereby in one mode the assembly can be raised with the liner supported within the casket and, in another mode, with the support means released, the casket can be removed from around the liner. The assembled peripheral wall may taper downwardly and inwardly to provide an open lower end of restrictive dimensions relative to the liner.
摘要:
A blank for a coffin or for a top or bottom part of a coffin, comprising a plurality of largely flat sections limited by essentially straight lines, which sections can be folded in relation to each other along interlying borderlines and joined together to form the intended shape. Each and every one of the said sections comprises a flex-rigid sheet applied to a relatively thin layer forming the outer surface of the coffin. The layer forming said outer surface is made of a flexible material with high tensile strength and extends over the entire outer surface of the blank. Further, said layer constitutes the only connection between the sheet sections of which the blank is comprised.

A foldable container assembly of fiberboard material is provided which can support and contain a corpse therein solely with the container fiberboard material without the use of wood frame members and the attendant weight and expense associated therewith. Preferably, the container assembly is provided partially preassembled in the transport container including an outer body portion of the main container body which can be bent or collapsed from its operative orientation to a smaller transport orientation to fit in the compact transport container. Similarly, a large lid section of a two part lid can be partially preassembled and folded to a smaller transport form for shipping. The main container body also includes a fluid containment portion formed from a fluid containment panel of corrugated fiberboard material which is folded to form the fluid containment portion and placed in the container body to minimize leakage of fluids from the container and to assist in supporting loads placed thereon. The fluid containment portion includes sealing gussets so that when the fluid containment panel is folded into its operative state for being placed into the container body, there will be no seams along the bottom of the upstanding walls of the folded fluid containment panel.
摘要:
A method of shipping a burial casket in a knocked-down configuration and subsequently assembling the casket at its point of destination comprises the steps of providing a kit of disassembled casket components assemblable into a casket having a shell and a cap, packing the kit of components into shipping container, shipping the packaged casket kit to a destination point, removing the kit from the container and assembling the casket from the kit utilizing at least a portion of the shipping container as an interior component of the casket. A casket comprises a shell and cap assembled from a kit shipped in knocked-down configuration, a body support structure positioned in the shell for supporting a body and a floor for the casket upon which to support the body support structure in the shell. The body support structure is formed from the bottom of an elongated, shallow, generally rectangular shipping carton in which the casket kit is shipped. The floor is formed from the top of the carton. The top of the carton can also be utilized to form a liquid retaining tray.

A casket shell comprises an elongated inner box and an elongated outer box. The inner box is congruently disposed in the interior region of the outer box and a core is sandwiched between the inner and outer boxes. The core includes a top surface attached to the inner box and a bottom surface attached to the outer box. The core can be made form a closed-celled material or a honeycomb material having a plurality of interconnected cylinders. Both inner and outer boxes are foldable to a generally planar configuration to minimize the volume during shipment. A casket shell in accordance with the present invention can also include a plurality of panels, each panel includes a core having a top surface and a bottom surface, first and second stabilizing surface element attached to the bottom and top surfaces, respectively. The panels connected together by a plurality of connectors to define the casket shell.
