Abstract: Apparatus and associated methods relate to emergency stroke detection and classification. In an illustrative example, a stroke detection device may include an ensemble stroke classification model (ESCM). The ESCM may, for example, include class-specific model sets applicable for at least four classes of features, and a general model set applicable for all classes of features. Each model set, for example, may be stacked with multiple class-specific models for each of a corresponding group of architectures. The stroke detection device may, for example, extract predetermined features from a rolling window of a first predetermined duration of EEG data. The predetermined features are extracted and combined into a 1-D input vector. By applying the input vector, the stroke detection device may generate a binary stroke prediction result. Various embodiments may advantageously accurately predict whether a patient is experiencing a stroke within a finite time to assist an emergency service personnel.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method and a device for providing a parameter which indicates a loss of consciousness of a patient under anesthesia. The method has the steps of detecting (301) at least one EEG signal on the head of the patient; continuously determining (302) the spectral cut-off frequency in a current timeframe of the EEG signal; determining (303) the curve of the spectral cut-off frequency of the EEG signal in a period of time which begins before an anesthesia-inducing medication is administered and ends after the anesthesia-induced loss of consciousness is initiated; determining (304) the absolute minimum of the spectral cut-off frequency in the period of time, wherein a negative peak of the spectral cut-off frequency lies in the absolute minimum, and providing (305) information regarding at which point in time the absolute minimum was reached as a parameter for an indicative notification of the loss of consciousness of the patient.

Abstract: Systems and methods for facilitating product preferences and/or product recommendations are disclosed. Biometric data of the subject are taken into account by the systems and methods in order to determine product preferences and/or product recommendations. Other factors of the subject, although optional, may be also taken into account while determining product preferences and/or product recommendations for a subject. These product preferences or recommendations can be presented to the subject, either automatically via a display device or with assistance from a product consultant. To obtain the biometric data, the subject will be exposed to a number of stimuli, such as fragrance/scent stimuli. Biometric data will then be collected from the subject based on her response to this fragrance/scent stimuli. In some examples, the collected biometric data relates to a subject's event-related potential (ERP)—the measured brain response that is the direct result of a specific sensory, cognitive, or motor event.
