Abstract: Ground-engaging components for articles of footwear include: (a) an outer perimeter boundary rim that at least partially defines an outer perimeter of the ground-engaging component, wherein the outer perimeter boundary rim defines an open space at least at a forefoot support area of the ground-engaging component; and (b) a matrix structure extending at least partially across the open space at least at the forefoot support area to define an open cellular construction with plural open cells in the open space at least at the forefoot support area. A plurality of these open cells of the open cellular construction have openings with curved perimeters and no distinct corners. Additional aspects of this invention relate to ground-engaging components that are very lightweight yet very stiff, particularly in the forefoot support area. Two or more sizes of the ground-engaging components may be provided with substantially constant forefoot stiffness (optionally substantially constant over a size run).

Abstract: Ground-engaging components for articles of footwear include: (a) an outer perimeter boundary rim that at least partially defines an outer perimeter of the ground-engaging component, wherein the outer perimeter boundary rim defines an open space at least at a forefoot support area of the ground-engaging component, wherein the outer perimeter boundary rim is shaped such that the outer perimeter of the ground-engaging component tapers or curves inward moving from a forefoot support area to an arch support area, and wherein a narrowest dimension from a lateral side edge to a medial side edge of the outer perimeter boundary rim is located in a heel support area of the ground-engaging component; and (b) a support structure extending into or at least partially across the open space. The ground-engaging component may have a narrower width dimension in a central heel or rear heel support area than in the arch support area.

Abstract: In an anti-slipping device for a shoe sole having an anti-slipping or anti-sliding component such as nails or spikes which are not secured to the sole but are secured on support elements which can be overturned to be hidden in slots made on the sole itself, each overturning support element is hinged at its ends on cubic blocks which are anchored to the sole due to a mushroom-shaped coupling element which is molded in once piece to the cubic block itself, made of the same thermo-polyurethane material as the support elements and which is snap-fitted in its seat arranged in the sole next to the slot where the overturning support element is accommodated after the overturning, without interfering with the integrity of the sole itself and thus allowing the replacement thereof without difficulty. Also included is a mechanism for avoiding the accidental loss of the support element when walking.

Abstract: A track and field shoe can include an upper, a sole structure, and a toe plate. The upper can include a medial side portion, a lateral side portion, and a toe box portion. The sole structure can be attached to the upper and can include a spike plate. The spike plate can have an anterior portion and a posterior portion. The toe plate can be attached to an anterior portion of the toe box portion of the upper and can include a hard and smooth outwardly facing surface. One or more portions of the toe plate can be exposed from an exterior surface of the upper.

Abstract: A turf aerator footwear kit including a footwear body, such as a boot, having an outsole disposed on an entire sole of the footwear body with threaded receptacles disposed in the outsole and a plurality of at least one of a first spike and a second spike, wherein each of the plurality of first spikes and the plurality second spikes is engageable to a respective one of the plurality of threaded receptacles. Each first spike and each second spike has a solid substantially frustoconical shaft and central shank, respectively, with a concave wall between a respective flat top end and flat bottom end and a flat upper end and flat lower end. A plurality of spiking tines coaxially extends from the central shank of each second spike. At least two of a pair of the spiking tines is disposed on diametrically opposite sides of the bottom edge.

Abstract: Disclosed is an improved shoe cover with a bistable latch that allows for easy securing and removal of the shoe cover while providing a strong connection between the shoe and the shoe cover when in use. The shoe cover includes at least one bistable spring band at or around the toe, midsection, or heel of the cover for securing the cover to the shoe. In addition, a secondary attachment mechanism may be employed as well, which may include: a string-like material to encircle the shoe about its center, a semi-rigid structure on the inner-side of the cover; and/or an impressionable material located on or within the inner-side of the cover, so that it is directly exposed to the specialized shoe. The impressionable material will create a mold that is at least partially impermanent, permanent or semi-permanent.

Abstract: An article of footwear may include an upper and a sole structure fixedly attached to a bottom portion of the upper. The sole structure may include a sole component including a baseplate having a bottom surface and at least a first ground engaging member extending substantially downward from the bottom surface of the baseplate, the first ground engaging member having a substantially circular cross-sectional shape. In addition, the sole structure may also include a tapered support structure having a substantially pyramidal shape and extending substantially downward from the bottom surface of the baseplate, abutting the first ground engaging member at a side portion, and partially surrounding the first ground engaging member such that a portion of the first ground engaging member is exposed between edges of the tapered support structure. Also, the tapered support structure may extend downward from the baseplate less than the first ground engaging member.
