    Abstract: A cap and a method for forming the same are provided. An integrally formed outer layer of fabric and an integrally formed moldable layer are adhesively bonded together to form a moldable front panel. A curved front side of the front panel is then formed by a mold. After that, the front panel and a plurality of side panels are connected to form a crown, and a peak is subsequently connected to the front panel of the crown to form the cap. Once the curved front side of the front panel is formed by heating and pressure application through the mold, the integrally formed moldable layer keeps the front panel in shape, so there is no need to support the outer layer of fabric and curve the front panel with two pieces of buckram that are stitched together, as is conventionally required.

    Abstract: Caps that are capable of being converted into protective face masks are provided. A cap can include a crown that can be placed over the face and that can be at least partially disconnected to provide a viewing aperture, and overlapping layers that cover the mouth and nose. The headband of the cap can be converted to straps for securing around the head. A visor can be configured to shade the eyes in both the cap configuration and the face mask configuration. A one-way breathing valve can be included in the crown to assist with breathing when the face mask is worn.

A visor extends outwardly from the crown in a generally horizontal direction and is configured to provide shade. Alternately, the visor includes a visor board and N holes passing through the visor board, where N is an integer in a range from 4 to 100. The mesh material and/or the N holes equalize pressure on a bottom surface relative to a top surface of the visor by allowing air to pass from the bottom surface through the mesh material to the top surface.
