Abstract:
A cutting device for an agricultural harvesting machine including: a drive; a transmission arrangement having an input element drivingly connected to the drive and driven reciprocatingly by the drive along an input travel; and a knife having a plurality of cutting edges, the knife being drivingly connected to and driven by an output element of the transmission arrangement along an output travel longer than the input travel, is driven in a reciprocating motion in such a way that the cutting edges of the knife pass in each case at least two counter-cutting edges of the cutting device when moving in one direction along the entire output travel.
Abstract:
In a sickle cutting system, including a plurality of guard fingers in a row across a cutter bar with each guard finger having an upwardly facing ledger surface and a plurality of hold-down members with each hold-down member comprising at least one hold-down finger, the guard fingers and hold down fingers thus forming cooperating overlying pairs between which the blades pass in the cutting action the guard fingers having no portion elevated above the ledger surface thereof in front of the tip of the blade and the guard fingers and blades having lengths from the cutter bar arranged such that a forwardmost tip of the guard finger is forward of the tip of the blade.
Abstract:
A sickle cutting apparatus includes double finger knife guards where the ledger surface of each guard finger has a width at an imaginary line joining the apexes between the rear edges of the blades which is greater than a spacing at the imaginary line between the first side edge of the ledger surface of each guard finger and the second side edge of the ledger surface of each next adjacent guard finger. The first and second side edges of the ledger surfaces of each of the guard fingers extend to a position behind the imaginary line so as to be free from any trash bar connecting each to the next in front of said imaginary line. The hold down fingers are all individually adjustable so that the double hold-down have two adjustment screws which can be individually operated causing flexing of the bridge between the double fingers.
Abstract:
A sickle cutting apparatus includes a plurality of triple finger knife guards which are arranged side by side along the cutter bar to cooperate with a reciprocating sickle bar carrying a row of double blade knife sections and a set of hold-down members carrying hold-down fingers. The hold-down members are arranged alternately as a single finger and double finger with each hold-down member being connected to the cutter bar in association with a respective triple guard. In this way the hold-down fingers are arranged at alternate guard fingers leaving the intervening guard fingers open. The system includes both pointed guards with no tang and stub guard so that the user can select either to be used with the hold-downs. The hold down fingers are all individually adjustable so that the double hold-down have two adjustment screws which can be individually operated causing flexing of the bridge between the double fingers.
Abstract:
A corn harvesting header comprises a knife bar extending along a front lower edge of a cutting header, with triangular knife sections attached along the bar and a plurality of guards with guard fingers extending forward. Pointed divider pans extend forward from the header such that a slot is formed between adjacent pans. A mounting bracket extends down from a rear of each pan and is attached to forward end portions of a pair of adjacent guard fingers, leaving rear portions of these guard fingers exposed. The divider pans are attached to alternating pairs of guard fingers such that a pair of bare guard fingers extends forward under and laterally adjacent to edges of each slot. The bottom surface of each seed pan is above the guard fingers an elevated distance that is greater than a spacing distance between the guard fingers. The header cuts the corn rows at angle.
Abstract:
A mowing finger arrangement has a lower element and an upper element connected to each other and forms two mowing fingers. A space is formed to accommodate a cutting device between the lower element and the upper element. The two mowing fingers are connected to each other via, respectively, a connection web on the upper element and on the lower element on a rear end of the mowing finger, when viewed in working direction. At least one of the connection webs has, at least portion wise, an off-set to provide an enlarged distance between the connection webs.
Abstract:
A sickle assembly includes a cutter beam and a plurality of guard fingers fixedly mounted at spaced along positions along the cutter beam. Each guard finger includes a lower finger portion and an upper finger portion defining a sickle slot therebetween. A plurality of sickle blades on a sickle bar align with the sickle slots. The sickle blades can be positioned in a central position between adjacent guard fingers in which the sickle blade is not overlapped by either one of said adjacent ones of the guard fingers for ease of removal. In further embodiments, a hold down member is hinged relative to the cutter beam for easy access to the sickle bar. Quick release fasteners may be associated with respective pairs of sickle blades for further ease of removal and changing of sickle blades.
Abstract:
A guard for a sickle of an agricultural plant cutting machine includes a forwardly extending finger including a longitudinally extending, upwardly facing surface extending over the sickle, which includes a rearwardly facing air discharge nozzle therein located above and/or forwardly of the sickle, and the finger includes an air flow passage extending internally therethrough from an air inlet adjacent to a base of the finger to the nozzle, for delivering a flow of pressurized air thereto, the nozzle being at least mostly flush with or recessed into the upwardly facing surface. As a result, the nozzle is operable for discharging the flow of air rearwardly over the finger without obstructing plant material flow thereover, the air flow being sufficient to blow at least a substantial amount of loose grain and other plant material located forwardly of the front edge of a header floor of the machine, onto the floor for collection by a conveyor of the header for processing.
Abstract:
A mower unit includes a housing having a skirt portion extending toward the ground, and a covering wall surrounding a plurality of grass cutting blades to define spaces for mulching treatment. The covering wall includes peripheral wall members each curved along a locus of revolution of the blade and spaced from the skirt portion. The peripheral wall member includes a vertical portion descending toward the ground. The vertical portion and the skirt portion have lower ends thereof substantially at the same height over the ground. The blades are arranged transversely of the mower unit. The peripheral wall members are in the form of independent annular wall members provided for the blades, respectively. The annular wall members define spaces for mulching treatment substantially independent of one another. Alternatively, the peripheral wall members may be in the form of annular wall members corresponding to loci of revolution of the blades, respectively, and an adjacent pair of the annular wall members may have at least parts of peripheries overlapping each other. The parts of peripheries are cut so that the spaces of mulching treatment defined by the pair of annual wall members communicate with each other.
Abstract:
Apparatus and method for preventing build-up of sheared material on a sickle-bar cutter assembly for use in removing unwanted tops from root or bulb crops, and an agricultural harvester embodying such an assembly. Stationary components of the assembly, including the knife guard mount bar and optionally an improved knife guard bar, are provided with a plurality of open passageways therethrough to permit process air to flow through the assembly to purge regions above the assembly in which sheared material would otherwise accumulate.
