Abstract: The present invention is a hand held, seed planting device for use by individuals. It is comprised of a soil probe for insertion into the earth, a seed feed conduit, and a movable clearing rod that slides through the soil probe. The clearing rod is used to clean the probe and embed the seeds in the earth. An adjustable depth gauge on the probe allows for the consistent, measured insertion of the seeds into the soil without stooping.

Abstract: A seat operated lawn treatment device adapted for connection to a powered vehicle. such as a mower or tractor has a ground mobile wheeled base frame. A first subsidiary frame having a seat thereon is pivotally secured to the wheeled base frame. A second subsidiary frame is also pivotally secured to the wheeled base frame so that at least a portion of the second subsidiary frame is disposed under and moveable directly or indirectly by at least a portion of the first subsidiary frame. The second subsidiary frame includes a pair of axially aligned spaced bearings supporting an axle borne turf treatment unit and is spring biased to a raised and inoperative transport position of the axle borne turf treating unit when no weight is placed upon the seat of the first subsidiary frame. However, when weight is placed on the seat of the first subsidiary frame the second subsidiary frame is moved to a lowered operative ground-engaging position of its interconnected the axle borne turf treating unit. The axle borne turf treatment unit is preferably one of an aerator, a roller, or a slicer.

Abstract: An abrading tine for use with a turf aeration apparatus has abrading structure that is defined on and protrudes from an outer surface of the metal tube forming the tine. The abrading structure forms at least ten discrete protrusions per tine and such that a distance between a peak of each protrusion and the outer surface ranges between 1-12 mm. The abrading structure is defined such that a significant increase in water infiltration and root mass of the grass turf is achieved as compared to a conventional tine. The abrading tine is adapted to allow the proximal end of the tube to be operably coupled to the turf aeration apparatus by any number of known attachment arrangement. The tube may be slightly tapered and the distal end beveled for easier insertion into grass turf. The abrading structure can comprise a plurality of grating elements or a knurled pattern defined in the outer surface. In one embodiment, a metal sheet having grating elements comprised of apertures and corresponding raised structures is welded around the tube. In another embodiment, a knurled or threaded pattern is formed on the outer surface of the tube to create the abrading structure.

Abstract: A movable implement for loosening soil below ground, in which a row of blades with blade holders are located perpendicular to a direction of motion of the implement. A supporting arm has one end articulated to each blade, and a frame is articulated to another end of the supporting arm.
