    Abstract: A striptill row unit includes a trash cleaner assembly, a coulter assembly, a knife assembly, a berm disc assembly, and a firming wheel assembly. The berm disc and firming wheel assemblies are independently movable between a raised transport position and a lowered field position. The knife assembly includes downwardly angled wings with leading edges extending substantially perpendicular to the line of travel of the row unit. Up/downforce systems are provided for various assemblies, with an independent actuator for each system. The berm discs are adjustable vertically, laterally, and angularly.

    Abstract: A ground working apparatus is supported on the toolbar of an agricultural implement for injecting liquid fertilizer into the ground. A disc arm is pivotally coupled to a mounting bracket on the toolbar to extend downwardly and rearwardly to a coulter disc rotatably supported on the lower end of the disc arm to cut the ground. An upright pivot assembly pivotally couples the upper end of the disc arm relative to the mounting bracket to pivot about an upright axis while preventing upward movement of the disc. A shank is pivotal on the disc arm to support a shovel trailing the disc to form an undercut trough connected to the ground cut formed by the coulter disc. A pressure mechanism prevents upward pivotal movement of the shovel relative to the disc arm until an upward pressure applied to the shovel exceeds a prescribed holding force of the pressure mechanism.

    Abstract: A gauge wheel (1) for use in controlling the depth of a furrow formed by at least one planting member of cultivation equipment includes a hub member (5) having a central hub and an outer peripheral portion (9); and a resilient coil member (3). The resilient coil member (3) includes a plurality of coil windings (17) which extend closely adjacent to the outer peripheral portion (9) of the hub member (5) and which define an outer periphery of the gauge wheel (1). The coil member (3) is connected at or adjacent one end thereof to the hub member (5). In use, the resilient coil member engages the soil on a side of the furrow and controls the depth by which the at least one planting member cuts into the soil to form the furrow. There is also provided a coulter gauge wheel which includes a coulter disc and at least one gauge wheel as described above.

    Abstract: An agricultural implement has implement settings for soil engaging tools that are controlled based on measured temporal and long-term soil properties in a field. A controller receives data from various soil and optical sensors and provides decision support for adjusting the implement settings. The soil sensors include a square or modified square electrical array that includes two independent, isolated disk coulters running side-by-side followed by two independent, isolated soil engaging runners. One runner has an optical sensor for organic matter, and the other runner has a temperature and moisture sensor. Above-ground optical sensors can be used to measure soil and plant material ahead of and behind the soil engaging tool. The controller can provide real time alerts to an operator that adjustments to the implement settings are needed, or the adjustments can be made automatically based on operator set thresholds, factory settings, or historical individual or global grower adjustments.

Additionally, the system may have a controller communicatively coupled to the sensor, with the controller being configured to determine the soil composition at the different depths within the field based at least in part on the data received from the sensor.

    Abstract: A method of manufacturing an agricultural tillage disk blade includes providing a substantially circular-shaped disk body with an outer peripheral edge and a central opening that defines a rotation axis, the outer body being disposed within a first plane. A plurality of waves is formed in a predetermined pattern in the outer peripheral edge of the disk body, and the outer peripheral edge is sharpened to form a plurality of teeth such that at least a portion of the sharpened outer peripheral edge is disposed within a second plane that is parallel to the first plane and substantially perpendicular to the rotation axis. The method also includes machining a plurality of relief portions in each of the plurality of waves at a location radially inward of the plurality of teeth, and heat treating the disk body after the sharpening and machining steps.

    Abstract: The invention relates to a cutting element (1) made of cemented carbide for an agricultural soil cultivation tool for cutting into the earth, comprising a top side (2) and a bottom side as well as a front side (3), a back side (4) opposite of the front side (3), and at least one lateral surface (5), wherein the top side (2) and bottom side are connected via the front side (3), back side (4), and the at least one lateral surface (5) and the front side (3) comprises a cutting region having multiple teeth, wherein at least one tooth is formed with a first flank (6) and a second flank (7). To achieve an efficient cutting into the earth with a complete cut through the weeds or herbaceous plants present in the earth, it is provided according to the invention that a profile line of the first flank (6) and a profile line of the second flank (7) have different lengths. In this manner, the weeds can be completely severed and thus killed, whereby a use of sprays for killing weeds is reduced and the environment can be protected to a considerable degree.

The forward wing links are positioned near the bottom of the shank in front of the rear of the shank. The wing rod is positioned behind the shank. A drive box having a hydraulic cylinder is engaged to the toolbar and pivotally engaged with the wing rod. In use, a portion of the subsoil tool may be inserted below a surface of the soil, the height of the subsoil tool may be adjusted, the subsoil tool may be rotated, and the hydraulic cylinder may be cycled to move the forward wings and following wings.

    Abstract: A system and method cuts and increases surface area of surface stubble material while contemporaneously mulching, tiling and aerating the soil. A discoidal coulter blade is configured with a plurality of circumferential teeth for cutting the surface stubble as well as reducing the downward pressure required for the blade to enter the type and depth of soil desired. The circular coulter blade is configured with a plurality of inserts oriented normal to the rotational movement of the blade as the blade cuts the soil. Each insert is shaped to aerate a specific type of soil anticipated by an operator. The inserts are positioned on the blade for desired impact with the soil and angled in placement on the blade to maintain the desired effect on the soil.

A retaining clip is press fitted to the at least one clip edge and includes a movable lock biased in a locking direction. The agricultural implement also includes a ground work tool with a locking opening at least partially filled by the movable lock to resist the tool from being removed from the shank.
