摘要: A quick change cutting link of a saw chain for cutting wood comprises a base member adapted to be pivotally connected to other links of the saw chain. The base member comprises a seat surface. A cutting member comprising a “V” notch releasably engages the seat surface of the base member. Attached to the “V” notch is a carbide tip, including a cutting edge. The carbide tip is accurately placed in the “V” notch by mating with a small piece of metal in the “V” notch. The carbide tip is then sinterbrazed to the cutting member. The cutting member and seat surface may also comprise an inverted L-shaped protrusion and the other includes an inverted L-shaped recess for receiving the inverted L-shaped protrusion. The inverted L-shaped protrusion and recess may be designed so as to form a wedge.

摘要: A cutting link (1) for a saw chain includes a base body (2) and a cutting tooth (3) mounted thereon and made of hard metal. The base body (2) has rivet openings (4) and a recess (6) is formed in the base body (2) for chip removal with the recess (6) being ahead of the cutting tooth (3) in running direction. A connecting leg (8) of the cutting tooth (3) is brought into surface contact laterally of the base body (2) and the cutting tooth (3) is firmly bonded to the base body (2) by brazing. The connecting leg (8) extends so far downwardly that a lower edge (13) thereof lies lower than the recess (6). The connecting leg (8) has an upwardly raised edge (15) in its rearward region opposite the neighboring rivet opening (4).

摘要: Safety chain and rotatable devices for saws include a plurality of base members on which sharp members are retained. The sharp members include sintered particulate material such as tungsten carbide, which has high particle hardness. The base members are formable from sintered particulate material. The sharp members to be formed by powder metal molding, metal injection molding or investment casting to provide the protrusion and recess with a final net shape. The cutting member is one, two or more pieces, and is permanently bonded to or removably disposed on the base member. Bonding material or fasteners can connect the cutting member to the base or a tip to an insert body; bonding material includes cement, solder, braze and polymer. Safety lobes prevent the teeth from being dislodged. Devices include dado blade, planer blade and bandsaw blade, chain saw, buck saw, rescue saw, automated wood cutting apparatus, circular saw, saw blade, knife, scissors, shears, grass cutter, weed cutter, grass cutting blade and weed cutting blade.

摘要: Safety chain and rotatable devices, used on saws or other machines for cutting or abrading material, include a plurality of holding members on which replaceable teeth are retained. Safety lobes prevent the teeth from being dislodged during operation of the saw. The safety lobes may be disposed on a link located upstream of the holding member or disposed on a link located downstream of the holding member, or both. The teeth can include sharp edges adapted for cutting various materials including wood, plastic and metal and can be formed with abrasive surfaces for abrading materials including brick and concrete. The teeth are quickly removable from the saw without the need for fasteners. While the teeth may be retained by engagement between the teeth and holding member, the chain and rotatable devices may retain the teeth on the holding members using only the safety lobes or safety surfaces. The rotational device can include two blades each including holding members and safety lobes. The blades are positioned and fixed to each other effective to enable the safety lobes of one blade to prevent dislodging the of the teeth of the other blade. The chain and blades can include depth gauges or rakers. Saws or cutting or abrading machines are operated while preventing dislodging of the replaceable teeth. When the device is operated to stop movement of the chain or blades, damaged or worn teeth can be quickly replaced with new or replacement teeth.

摘要: A saw chain for a motor-driven chain saw (1), including for a harvester for the lumber industry, is formed from center drive links (10) and lateral connecting links (11). The drive links (10) and the connecting links (11) are pivotally connected to each other via rivets (9). The connecting links (11) are configured, in part, as cutting links (14). These cutting links include a cutting tooth (15) and a forward running surface (16) and a rearward running surface (17). The forward running surface (16) is approximately at the elevation of the leading rivet opening (12) and the rearward running surface (17) is approximately at the elevation of the trailing rivet opening (13). The rearward running surface (17) is configured extended in a direction opposite to the running direction (8) of the saw chain (5). A first radius (18) is the maximum distance of the axis (22) of the leading rivet opening (12) to the region (19) facing toward the forward running surface and lying in the running direction. A second radius (20) defines the maximum distance from the axis (23) of the trailing rivet opening (13) of the connecting link (11), which is next adjacent in the running direction (8), to the region (21) of the connecting link (11). The region (21) lies facing toward the rearward running surface (17) opposite to the running direction (8). In order to obtain a long service life and good saw chain movability, it is provided that the second radius (20) is greater than the first radius (18) and the sum of first radius (18) and second radius (20) corresponds approximately to the distance (b) of the axes (26, 27) of the rivet openings (24, 25) of a drive link (10) arranged between the connecting links (11).

摘要: The invention is directed to a saw chain for a motor-driven saw such as a handheld, portable motor-driven chain saw. The motor-driven saw has a guide bar defining a track for accommodating and guiding the saw chain in a predetermined direction of movement. The saw chain includes a plurality of cutting links, a plurality of connecting links and a plurality of driving links, the links being pivotally interconnected by rivets or the like to define the saw chain. Each of the cutting links includes a plate-like body having a base web for defining rearward and forward openings for receiving respective ones of two of the rivets therein. The plate-like body has a rearward portion extending upwardly from the rearward region of the base web to define a cutting tooth. The plate-like body has a forward portion extending upwardly from the forward region of the base web so as to be spaced from the cutting tooth. The forward portion is bent over transversely to the direction of movement at a predetermined distance from the base web to define a depth limiter. The depth limiter has an upwardly directed top surface subdivided into a bearing face directly adjacent to the cutting tooth and an abutment face extending forwardly of the bearing face so as to be inclined downwardly in the direction of movement.

摘要: A cutting link for a saw chain useful in heavy workload operations includes spaced-apart longitudinally-extending planar side portions adapted to straddle a guide bar support and a cutting element mounted on one of the side portions and extending toward the other side portion, the side portions being connectable to other links in the chain. A cross piece interconnects the side portions forwardly of the cutting element. The cross piece forms with the side portions a continuous U-shaped zone which defines a depth gauge to determine the depth of cut of the cutting element. A depending nose tab integral with the cross-piece serves to close off a portion of the forward open channel between the planar side portions to minimize accumulation and packing of sawdust under the U-shaped zone.

摘要: A saw chain has pivotally interconnected chain links which includes cutting links and safety links and these links are effective as working links. The cutting links are each provided with a cutting tooth for cutting into wood and the safety links are each provided with a projection which limits the depth of the cut of the cutting tooth which follows the safety link. The pivot axes of the chain links lie in an action plane above the guide bar in the stretched portion of the saw chain when the latter is subjected to the pulling force exerted by the drive of the chain saw. The cutting links are pivotable with respect to this plane. In addition, the safety links can also be pivotable in this manner. When the cutting links are in their pivoted-out position under this pulling force, no clearance angle is available at the roof of the cutting tooth so that the cutting edge has no cutting effect. For this reason, there is no kickback when the saw chain is placed against the wood. When an advancing thrust is applied to the chain saw, the cutting links in the stretched running portion of the chain are pivoted into their pivoted back position or working position by means of reaction forces; whereas, in the direction-reversal region of the guide bar, the cutting links are retained in their pivoted-out position by means of the support imparted to the drive links by the nose sprocket of the guide bar. In this way, the danger of kickback remains low.
