The bio-reactor chamber includes a plurality of bio-balls which have a high surface area for collecting bacteria for biological filtration.     摘要: A process and system for removing animal processing contaminants and fats, oils, and greases from large volume quantities of waste water. In the process, a waste water stream containing the contaminants is treated with a chemical oxidant, polymer compound and coagulant to create a particle having a diameter greater than 50 microns. Treated waste water is passed through a microfiltration membrane which physically separates the contaminant particle from the waste water. Commercially available microfiltration membranes having a pore size in the range of 0.5 micron to 10 microns may be used. The treated waste water flow rate through the microfiltration membranes can range from at least 200 gallons per square foot of membrane per day (“GFD”) to in excess of 750 GFD. Solids are removed from the membrane surface by periodically backflushing the microfiltration membranes and draining the filtration vessel within which the membranes are located. The dislodged solid material within the filtration vessel is flushed into a holding tank for further processing of the solids. The solid waste product may be incorporated into products for consumption by a different species.

    摘要: A tank system and a method for accommodating aquatic life and particularly fish. The tank system comprises a holding tank for holding fluid to sustain aquatic life disposed therein and a filtering means in the form of a biofilter for receiving extraneous fluid from the top of the holding tank at one side thereof separated from the biofilter by a partition. A tank discharge means comprising a longitudinally extending lip surmounts the partition to permit the discharge and passage of extraneous fluid from the top of the holding tank via a prefilter to a filtering area in which the biofilter is disposed. Recirculating means including a network of pipes is provided for recirculating the extraneous fluid passed through biofilter by gravity, from the bottom of the filtering area back to the holding tank via one or pumps and a pair of water inlet lines. The water inlet lines are disposed at the base of the holding tank, opposite, and extending generally parallel, to the tank discharge means and inject fluid under pressure into the tank in a direction so as to provide for a uniform, circulatory cross-flow of fluid about a generally horizontal axis in substantially parallel relationship to the lip. A particular form of prefilter for extracting suspended solids and protein to a foam fractionator is also disclosed as well as a buffer tank arrangement for accommodating overfilling of the holding tank, and the process involved with generating the cross-flow.

The lateral synthetic chains are comprised of at least two amino groups in which the N2 atoms are at least 2.6 Å apart within at least one lateral synthetic chain. The matrix exhibits porous, unaggregated, spherical particles in a range of particle sizes from 50 to 250 &mgr;m, which possess an exclusionary threshold of at least 107 Daltons, and they exhibit no peptides or aromatic groups of any kind. The at least two amino groups are preferably separated from one another by 4 to 6 carbon atoms.
