Abstract:
An apparatus for the cultivation of soil and the planting of seeds is described comprising a frame (8); a first row of deep loosening tines (4) carried by the frame and spaced apart across at least a major part of the width of the frame (8); and a second row of drill coulters (5) carried by the frame (8) and spaced apart across at least a major part of the width of the frame, —wherein a deep loosening tine (4) of the first row is aligned with at least one pair of drill counters (5) of the second row, in such a manner that each coulter (5) of the pair is laterally offset either side of the deep loosening tine (4). A method for the cultivation of soil and the planting of seeds using such an apparatus is also described.
Abstract:
An improved farm implement includes a frame having a forwad hitch which is maintained at a fixed position relative to the remainder of the implement during all stages of operation. The rear end of the frame includes running gear which may be raised and lowered to raise and lower an array of discs and chisel plows in order to cultivate a field, particularly a field which may includes a great amount of field stubble.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus to be mounted upon a planter row unit for delivering liquid fertilizer to the bottom of a trench without contacting the seed to be planted may be integrated with a cleaner for the furrow opening device. The system as claimed and described is adapted for mounting to substantially all modern row units employing floating row units. The method and apparatus as described does not interfere with existing down pressure or seed placement systems as found on modern row crop planters. As described and implemented, the method and apparatus is more compact and lighter in weight than the prior art. The attached assembly for a seed planting unit works in combination with a seed trench opener to form a trench for the deposit of liquid fertilizer offset from and parallel to the later formed seed trench.
Abstract:
A double shoot seed and fertilizer placement unit has a leading shank that cuts a fertilizer trench in the soil, a seed shovel immediately behind but above the lower extremity of the shank to cut one or more seed shelves in the soil above and outboard of the fertilizer trench, a boot behind the shovel that places seeds on the shelf and then drops fertilizer into the fertilizer trench between and below the seeds, and a fertilizer guide member that rides in the fertilizer trench below the fertilizer outlet to maintain the integrity of the trench in preparation for the fertilizer and helps guide the fertilizer down to the bottom of the trench as it emanates from the boot.
Abstract:
A tillage tooth for use in an implement which performs shallow tillage with tillage discs followed by chisel plows with winged points performing primary tillage in strips of untilled soil left by the forward discs. The points include wings mounted to either side of a central tooth. The wings are constructed and arranged to provide a greater rise to lift soil adjacent their inner edges than is provided by the outer edges of the wings. This imparts a lifting and lateral rolling motion to tilled soil and enhances a smooth finish.
Abstract:
A soil tillage apparatus that includes a frame with a hitch arrangement for pulling the frame mounting, back from the frame front end, are sequently mounted earth cutter disks that individually turn when pulled through the soil to lift the soil above the ground, followed by a hammer tiller consisting of a rotor drum mounted to turn oppositely to the cutter disks and includes pivotally mounted tines that turn with the rotor drum above the ground to flail the clumps of soil lifted by the disks and pulverize the clumps of lifted soil, in mid-air, into soil particles that fall back to the ground, and are mixed into the soil by chiselers that follow the hammer tiller, and the frame may further mount a soil leveler wheel and soil packer wheel.
Abstract:
In one embodiment, a soil tillage apparatus comprises a frame having an earth cutter, a hammer tiller, chiselers, a soil leveler, and a packer wheel all in a linear arrangement. The earth cutter comprises a plurality of discs and is positioned at the front of the frame, proximal to a tractor, truck, or other pulling means. The hammer tiller is positioned behind the earth cutter and comprises a rotary drum having one or more pulverizes attached thereto for pulverizing soil received from the earth cutter. The chiselers are positioned next and dig deep into the soil that is not passed above by the hammer tiller. The soil leveler comprises a rotary drum with a plurality of protrusions for leveling the soil. The packer wheel likewise comprises a rotary drum with a plurality of protrusions which may be used for leveling purposes or for seed bed furrowing, depending upon the arrangement.
Abstract:
A multi-task single-pass agricultural tillage implement is disclosed. The implement has a plurality of independently engageable and adjustable soil working components successively mounted on a mainframe. The mainframe has a wheel assembly which raises and lowers a plurality of wheels. The mainframe also includes a tongue assembly coupleable to a towing vehicle and a frame pivoting angle adjustment mechanism. Each of the soil working components can be independently and selectively operated separately or in combination with any one or more of the plurality of working components such that each of the plurality of soil working components is independently, selectively operated for optimized single pass tillage. An open spiral chopping reel assembly for use in an agricultural field preparation implement is also disclosed
Abstract:
Plows and methods of fabricating plows are provided. The plow includes an elongated frame. One or more shear assemblies are affixed to the frame in a spaced relationship along a length of the frame, wherein each of the one or more shear assemblies includes a shearing blade disposed at a distal end of the shear assembly and configured to operate below the surface of the soil to sever the roots of planted vegetation as the plow is pulled through a field. One or more cylinder assemblies are rotatably affixed to the frame and positioned parallel to the one or more shear assemblies and configured to rotate as the plow is pulled through a field. The one or more cylinder assemblies include a plurality of radially extending cylinder blades configured to mulch the soil and press the severed vegetation into the soil.
Abstract:
A trail grooming device connectable to a towing vehicle so that the towing vehicle can pull the device over a surface includes a connection assembly that connects the device to the vehicle; a cutting bed to cut, level and process the surface and with a front portion connected to the connection assembly; a suspension system coupled to the cutting bed to raise or lower the cutting bed; a rear assembly connected to a rear portion of the cutting bed; and a roller connected to the rear assembly to compact the surface after the cutting bed has cut, leveled and processed the surface.
