Abstract:
A device and method comprising the steps of placing an empty unrolled and unfolded backpack device front side up on a flat surface; engaging a rigging equipment to at least one of a series of first inner straps disposed in a fourth section of the backpack device; engaging a shorter equipment including additional carabineers, pulleys or tools to at least one of a series of second inner straps disposed in a fifth section of the backpack device; rolling the backpack device inward to form a bundle; and engaging a bundle strap implement disposed at an outer portion of said backpack device around the rolled backpack for transport or storage.
Abstract:
An airport inset light for an airport runway light system comprises a light fixture incorporating a light source that is covered with a lens. A flow path can be provided in the light fixture such that air can pass unrestrictedly between an exterior environment and an interior space of the light fixture. The flow path can be covered or filled with a hydrophobic filter material, which allows for the light fixture interior to exchange air with its exterior environment. Such a flow path can create pressure equalization between the exterior environment and the light fixture interior to prevent the formation of a vacuum in the light fixture interior. Hence, it can eliminate the possibility of water entering the interior of the light source due to pressure differential between the environment and the light source interior.
Abstract:
An elevated airport light for an airport runway light system includes a housing incorporating a light source and a mast mounted to a base plate through a frangible coupling. An adjustment cap is disposed around the mast and designed to thread into a base of the housing. The cap and the housing can exhibit spherical surfaces to capture a ball between the cap and the housing. The spherical surface of the cap can be smooth and intended to slide easily on the ball. Similarly, the spherical surface of the housing can include ribs that are designed to cut into the ball for holding orientation of the housing to the mast while tightening the cap. Therefore, the adjustment cap can enable quick rotational and horizontal adjustment of the light source without the need for fasteners.

Abstract:
A method and system for forming and using a fiducial on a sample to locate an area of interest on the sample, the method comprising forming a fiducial by depositing a block of material on a sample proximal to an area of interest on the sample, the block of material extending from the surface of the sample to a detectable extent above the surface of the sample; and milling, using a charged particle beam, a predetermined pattern into at least two exposed faces of the block of material; subsequent to forming the fiducial, detecting the location of the area of interest by detecting the location of the fiducial; and subsequent to detecting the location of the area of interest, imaging or milling the area of interest with a charged particle beam.
Abstract:
A redundant non-contact switch reports a status as closed or open for a first member and a second member that move relative to each other between an open state and a closed state. In some embodiments, the redundant non-contact switch includes a wireless authentication (WA) pair and a magnetic pair. The WA pair may include a WA responder attached to one of the first member and the second member, and a WA interrogator attached to the other of the first member and the second member. The WA pair may be configured to register a WA status of closed or open, depending on a WA authentication between the WA responder and the WA interrogator. The magnetic pair may include a magnet attached to one of the first member and the second member, and a magnet sensor attached to the other of the first member and the second member. The magnetic pair may be configured to register a magnetic status of closed or open, depending on whether a magnet distance between the magnet and magnet sensor is beyond a threshold magnet distance. In some instances, the redundant non-contact switch reports the status as closed only if both the WA status is registered as closed and the magnetic status is registered as closed.
Abstract:
An oil management system and oil filter utilized in association with an internal combustion engine. The oil filter comprises high-efficiency filtration media for filtering engine oil associated with the internal combustion engine. At least one type of time release additive can be impregnated into the filtration media, wherein the time release additives are automatically released into the engine oil filter from filtration media in order to replenish additives already present in the engine oil. Additionally, a sensor module can be provided that monitors oil quality and oil filter efficiency through detecting one or more attributes of the engine oil filtered through the filtration media of oil filter in order to efficiently conserve and manage the oil and reduce the interval of oil changes thereof by extending the life of the engine oil through the replenishment of the additives present in the engine oil and higher filtration effectiveness of the filter
Abstract:
A modular retail system includes a track positioned on a floor and a plurality of retail units. Each retail unit includes a base having generally opposed ends, the base and ends generally defining an interior for contents that is accessible through a front margin defined between the generally opposed ends. Each retail unit further includes a plurality of wheel assemblies coupled to and extending below the base to provide a rolling surface adapted to roll on the floor. Each retail unit includes at least one track follower mechanism coupled to the base and having at least a portion of which is engageable with the track, such that the plurality of units can be stored in a generally abutting side-by-side position and movable in a direction generally parallel the track when the at least a portion of the track follower mechanism is selectively engaged with the track.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for high speed web processing incorporating linear tools with rotary motion to provide the advantages of linear and rotary type processing as herein disclosed. The web processing apparatus of the present invention includes a pair of linear processing tools, a plurality of sets of rotary gears, a drive shaft coupled to a first set of rotary gears, and a plurality of brackets connecting the linear processing tools to the remaining sets of rotary gears. The drive shaft of the present invention drives movement of the linear processing tools at the same rate that a web to be processed moves in between the linear processing tools. Accordingly, the linear processing tools engage one another at a flat angle at a fixed position of the web to process the web. The present invention also discloses a method for high speed web processing wherein a pair of linear processing tools are bracketed to a plurality of rotary gears such that the linear processing tools rotate with the rotary gears. A pair of linear processing tools are aligned such that the upper and lower linear processing tools engage at a flat angle when the lower linear tool is at its uppermost position and the upper linear tool is at its lowest position. A web of material is guided in between the upper and lower linear processing tools at the same rate at which the linear tools are rotated. In this manner, a web of material is processed when the upper and lower linear processing tools engage the web at a flat angle.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for automatically managing investment portfolios to substantially track a selected index and to automatically harvest tax losses is disclosed. Preferably, the system comprises an accounting system for maintaining tax lot information for individual accounts, an optimization system for rebalancing each account to substantially model the index and for harvesting tax losses, and a trading system for executing trades. Each investor owns the securities in his account, and therefore, harvested losses can be used to offset capital gains. The period between successive optimization procedures is selected to avoid application of the internal revenue service wash sale rules.
