摘要:
First and second disks are mounted on a common shaft for rotation relative to each other, the second disk being releasably urged into contact with the first disk by a spring. A plurality of ball detents disposed about the face of the second disk seat in a plurality of radially extending grooves formed in the face of the first disk. This permits the disks to be releasably secured in a fixed angular relationship by the force of the spring. Any desired one of a plurality of angular relationships between the disks may be selected by rotating the disks relative to each other through a desired angle. The selected angular relationship is then maintained by the urging force of the spring which seats the plurality of ball detents in adjacent ones of the plurality of grooves. Each of the plurality of ball detents is freely movable longitudinally over an adjustment range to automatically seat each ball detent in a corresponding one of the plurality of grooves. In one example, the adjustable disks are gears, driven alternately, to provide a paper feeding drive of variable stroke for a teleprinter.

A paper cutter in which special coded forms can be placed in which the cutter has an adjustable knife arrangement for cutting the inserted stationery forms in such manner as to indicate, for example, sums of money. The special form is coded, for example, by imprinting thereon columns in which money amounts are designated, and when the forms are placed in the cutter in a certain manner knives can be adjusted for severing the form at a predetermined point along each of the columns, thereby indicating a sum of money and which can be read either from the cut off form or from the stub or coupon removed therefrom in the cutting operation.
摘要:
A tape handling mechanism and horizontal storage bin for a continuous loop of magnetic tape includes slotted tape guides positioned at critical angles to achieve a smooth and uniform passage of tape from the bin onto a pair of separately operable sprocket drives, past read and write heads tangential to the sprocket drives, and from the sprocket drives back into the bin, while preventing gripping or jamming of the tape loop in the confined bin. A pair of tape guide slots between the read and write heads guides tape into a buffer loop whenever data is recorded by the write head more rapidly than recorded data is read out by the read head. A first tape tension switch operates when the buffer loop is too tight, to cause the write head sprocket to advance tape without recording data, while a second tape tension switch prevents further operation of the recording head sprocket when the buffer store is completely filled.
