摘要： A connection system to facilitate the mechanical coupling, and the transfer of electrical power between, trunk sections of an artificial tree is disclosed. The connection system can include a mechanical coupling system having a guiding surface and a guiding slot on a first trunk section and a guiding protrusion disposed inside a second trunk section. Insertion of the first trunk section into the second trunk section and thus contact of the guiding protrusion against the guiding surface can cause the first trunk section to rotate relative the second trunk section until a predetermined rotational alignment is reached, aligning electrical contacts of first and second electrical connectors, each of which is attached to an outer wall of a respective trunk section. The electrical contacts of the first and second electrical connectors can establish electrical communication between the first and second electrical connectors, and thus between the first and second trunk sections.

摘要： An electrical connector includes a connector housing having terminal cavities which are arranged in an array having at least two rows and at least two columns. Each of the terminal cavities are configured to receive electrical terminals. Each terminal cavity defines a flexible primary locking mechanism integrally formed with the connector housing and configured to engage an edge of the electrical terminal, thereby inhibiting removal of the electrical terminals from the terminal cavities. The electrical connector also includes a secondary locking mechanism slidably attached to the connector housing and movable from a pre-staged position to a staged position. The secondary locking mechanism defines a plurality of members configured to extend into the terminal cavities and engage the edge of two electrical terminals when the secondary locking mechanism is in the staged position, thereby further inhibiting removal of the electrical terminals from the terminal cavities.

The TPA member is mounted to the cable end of the housing and movable relative to the housing between an unlocked position and a locked position. The TPA member moves from the unlocked position to the locked position along an actuation axis that is perpendicular to the cavity axis. The TPA member includes ledges that protrude into the cavities of the housing and into corresponding retreat paths of the terminals when the TPA member is in the locked position to block retreat of the terminals towards the cable end of the housing.
