Abstract: A battery module, includes: a battery cell stack in which a plurality of battery cells are stacked; a first heat dissipation member disposed on one side of the cell stack; a second heat dissipation member disposed on the other side of the cell stack; and a blocking member providing a plurality of insulation spaces in which the battery cells are disposed, the blocking member surrounding at least one surface of each of the battery cells; wherein the plurality of the battery cells, include a first battery cell having a surface contacting the first heat dissipation member; and a second battery cell having a surface contacting the second heat dissipation member.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is a battery module comprising a plurality of battery cells encased in an outer shell. The outer shell has disposed on an inner surface a flame retardant layer that comprises expandable graphite. The expandable graphite is operative to expand during an thermal event that results in an increase in battery module temperature. Disclosed herein too is a method comprising disposing in a battery module a flame retardant layer; where the battery module comprises a plurality of battery cells encased in an outer shell. The outer shell has disposed on an inner surface a flame retardant layer that comprises expandable graphite. The expandable graphite is operative to expand during an thermal event that results in an increase in battery module temperature.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a battery pack and an apparatus using the battery pack as a power supply, and relates to the technical field of batteries, to optimize performance of the battery pack. The battery pack includes a box body, a battery module, a module electrical connection piece, and a first protecting assembly. The battery module is mounted in the box body, and the battery module includes an anti-explosion assembly. The module electrical connection piece is mounted on the battery module. The first protecting assembly is mounted in the box body and is configured to protect the module electrical connection piece when an ejecta discharged from the anti-explosion assembly impacts the module electrical connection piece. The above technical scheme reduces probability of secondary short circuit of the battery pack.

Abstract: A battery for a motor vehicle includes at least one cell assembly with a large number of battery cells, wherein the battery cells each have a cell housing with a degassing element for discharging a hot gas produced in the cell housing in the event of a fault, a battery housing with housing walls which enclose a receiving space for receiving the at least one cell assembly, and a deactivation device which is arranged in the receiving space of the battery housing and has at least one sleeve which is filled with a combustion-promoting agent, wherein the sleeve, when it is acted on by the hot gas discharged from at least one battery cell, is configured to release the combustion-promoting agent.
