Abstract: A circuit breaker design allows for the circuit breaker to have an overall height (i.e., measured vertically along the circuit breaker's exposed outwardly-facing surface in the typical orientation of circuit breaker panels) that is slimmer than achievable with known typical configurations, while at the same time still providing robust power (e.g., voltage) handling and arc interruption capabilities. This is achieved, for example, by providing various components formed from polymer materials (which are generally less conductive of heat than metals), reinforced by metal members in certain areas, if needed, as well as a very particular configuration of a permanent magnet that is employed for enhanced arc quenching.

Abstract: An add-on module adapted to be attached to the basic mechanical structure of a multi-pole circuit breaker includes multiple extended terminal plates each of which is adapted to replace one of the input and output terminals for one of the poles, multiple electromechanical transducers each of which is coupled to one of the extended terminal plates for producing a mechanical movement in response to a predetermined magnitude of electrical current in the extended terminal plate to which that transducer is coupled, and a mechanical actuator coupled to the electromechanical transducers and to the breaker contacts for operating a trip mechanism in response to a predetermined mechanical movement of any of the transducers.

Abstract: A power supply switch wherein a contact operating member pivotably supported at its middle is coupled at one end to an end of a spring link and at the other end to an end of a tension spring, the spring link is coupled at the other end substantially to the center of a movable contactor which carrying on one end a movable contact for engaging with and disengaging from a fixed contact as well as the other end of the tension spring, and the movable contactor is formed to have on the other end a latch part to which a latch member is engageable as operatively associated with a bimetal plate for tripping the latch member to disengage it from the latch part, whereby the switch is made to break the contacts specifically upon detection of any excessive current, while sufficiently minimizing the size of the entire switch and improving the operability with an effectively reduced spring load applied during rocking operation of the operating member.

Abstract: An electrical switch having a transmission linkage which is actuated by a rocker and which is coupled to a slide bearing contacts and which contains a triggering lever cooperating with a latching piece. The technical problem is to provide a switch with a strong latching force and reliable unlatching. The transmission linkage is constructed as a toggle lever, to the toggle joint (13) of which the rocker (14) is coupled and the first lever (12) of which is coupled in a bearing which is fixed to the housing and the second lever (11) of which is constructed as a latching lever for a pivot lever (10), which latching lever is active in a position of the toggle lever above the dead center. The pivot lever (10) engages into the slide (6). A yoke lever (15) is constructed as a triggering lever for the second lever (11) of the toggle lever and as a counterbearing for a pressure spring (26). The latching piece latches the yoke lever mechanically or electromagnetically, and the pressure spring (26) on the one hand pre-tensions in the switched-off position the slide (6) and the pivot lever (10) coupled thereto and on the other hand supplies the tensioning force for the yoke lever (15) to trigger the switch.

Abstract: A bipolar protective switch has a two-piece housing. An electromagnet constitutes the actuating device made either in the form of a zero voltage actuator or an excess current actuator. The armature of the electromagnet drops in the event of a voltage failure or is attracted if an excess current appears, thus disconnecting the switch. The switch can be turned back on again only after the voltage returns or normal current returns by the actuating device. A rocker is disposed on the narrow upper surface between the two pieces of the housing as the actuating member. The electromagnet and connecting members are disposed on the underside of the housing, a portion of the electromagnet being located between the two pieces of the housing. A support of an insulating material, is disposed in the housing upon which support connecting members are disposed. Two fixed contact members located side by side and two movable contacts, as well as a lever which is common to the two movable contacts is swivelable, and is subject to the force of a spring, the lever being connected to the rocker by a yoke. The lever is lockably connected with one arm of a two-armed release lever disposed on the support, the other arm being effectively connected with a release rod of the electromagnet.
