摘要： A record player capable of playing phonographic records that may be played in a scratch style by a user. The record player includes a tonearm that is rotatably supported at or near an end of the tonearm by a structure having both horizontally and vertically fastening points to the tonearm. The fastening points are configured to receive a user activated tension adjustment element. A user may advance or retreat the tension adjustment element to selectably control the positioning, or relative tension in the tonearm such that any record skipping due to undesirable tonearm pressure is controlled, or to achieve a specific sound.

摘要： Arrangement for fastening a phonographs stylus holder to its tone arm. The arrangement has a plurality of pins affixed to the tone arm, and sleeves inserted in openings in the stylus holder. The sleeves are slipped onto the pins and have a frictional engagement therewith. The lower ends of the sleeves are provided with flanges which underlie opposite edge portions of the stylus holder. In one embodiment of the arrangement the passages through the sleeves are concentric with the external cylindrical surfaces of the sleeves, and in another embodiment the passages through the sleeves are eccentric with respect to the outer cylindrical surfaces of the sleeves whereby turning of the sleeves permits an angular adjustment of the stylus holder with respect to the tone arm. Indicium means may be provided on the sleeve to indicate the angular position of the sleeves relative to the stylus holder.

摘要： A tone arm adapted to be disposed between a head shell and a holder for the tone arm, the tone arm comprising at least one hollow member contacting the head shell or the tone arm support and having an orientation axis extending through the hollow portion of the hollow member where the angle .theta. between the orientation axis and an arm shaft axis extending between the head shell and the tone arm holder is greater than 0.degree. whereby a mechanical vibration introduced into the tone arm from a vibration source comprising either the head shell or the tone arm holder is divided between two paths both of which start at the contact point between the hollow member and the vibration source and then pass around the respective sides of the hollow member to a cancellation point where the vibrations in the two paths substantially cancel one another due to difference in their direction of travel.

摘要： A programmable phonograph record changer which provides automatic sound track selection for each of a plurality of records played sequentially by the record changer. The record changer includes an electro-optic scanner mounted on the pickup arm for sensing the land areas located between the various sound tracks of a disc-type record. An auxiliary tone arm lift and sweep mechanism is controlled by a digital logic system connected to the electro-optic scanner to drive the tone arm across various bands which the user does not want to be reproduced. The logic system includes a programmable memory which stores the preselected sound tracks of a sequence of records which the user intends to be reproduced. A land sensing circuit includes a means for developing a threshold signal which varies with the record surface reflectivity characteristics.

摘要： An improved tone arm mounting system, for improved damping of tone arm system (100) vibrations. Tone arm system (100) is supported by tone arm pedestal (106). Adjuster screw (301) is affixed to the bottom of tone arm pedestal (106) so that adjuster screw axis of revolution (309) passes through or near tone arm system weight center of gravity (310). Adjuster screw (301), by threaded means, rotatably receives adjuster wheel (302), which is thin and is large in diameter, for easy access to its outer edge for manual or mechanical operation. Rotation of adjuster wheel (302) on adjuster screw (301) changes the height of tone arm pedestal (106) and thereby changes VTA (110). The tone arm system (100) is supported by arm board (206) without vertical connection to arm board (206) thereby damping mechanical vibrations and improving signal quality. A lightly loaded vibration damping washer (306) can be used between thrust bushing (307) and adjuster wheel (302) to damp or filter transfer of mechanical vibrations from tone arm system (100) to arm board (206) and back into tone arm system (100).

摘要： A molding composition is obtained by blending flaky graphite with a resin component comprising a mixture of a thermoplastic resin having a glass transition temperature higher than room temperature and another thermoplastic resin having a glass transition temperature lower than room temperature. The composition is kneaded and rolled into a sheet to orient the graphite flakes parallel to the surface of the sheet. The rolled sheet is then molded into an article, for example, speaker diaphragm, arm pipe and head shell, which may be optionally be carbonized or graphitized. The resulting article exhibits improved physical properties, especially high specific modulus of elasticity comparable to aluminum and beryllium as well as good internal loss comparable to paper.
