摘要: An optical disk device which quickly detects that a transparent disk is loaded is provided. When an optical disk is loaded, a drive controller of an optical disk device drives a spindle motor and checks existence of an optical disk based on a driving result. In addition, the drive controller drives an optical pickup to apply a focus control, to detect whether or not focusing is possible. When it is determined from the driving result that there is an optical disk and that focus is not possible, the drive controller judges that the optical disk (D) is a transparent disk.

摘要: Provided is a method and an apparatus for setting a virtual disc status of an optical disc drive. While set to the virtual disc status, the optical disc drive does not detect if an optical disc is present in the optical disc drive in response to the optical disc drive being powered on. Accordingly, power consumption and noise may be reduced.

摘要: The present invention avoids a case in which a pickup lens and a lens protector come into contact with a structure of a disk cartridge and are damaged. When an operation distance is short and there is a disk cartridge 203 and the disk cartridge 203 is not an exclusive cartridge, a moving range of the pickup 107 is restricted or an actuating operation thereafter is stopped depending upon whether the optical disk medium 101 loaded into the optical disk apparatus is an optical disk medium having a short operation distance, whether there is a disk cartridge 203, and whether a structure of the disk cartridge 203 is prevented from coming into contact with a pickup lens or the lens protector which is exclusive for the optical disk medium having the short operation distance.

摘要: A power saving method for an optical disk drive of a rugged electronic device is described. In the method, whether a watertight lid outside the optical disk drive is in open/closed state is detected by a sensor. When the watertight lid is in the closed state, whether an optical disk exists in the optical disk drive is detected by a read/write head of the optical disk drive. When no optical disk exists, a controller in the rugged electronic device begins to time. When a predetermined time is reached and no optical disk drive start command is received, the controller turns off an electrical connection between a power supply and the optical disk drive. When an optical disk drive start command is received, the controller enables the electrical connection between the power supply and the optical disk drive.

摘要: Recording devices are often used to record discussions, conferences, meetings and the like. The recorded information is reviewed or processed afterwards for example in order to prepare minutes or notes. The known state of the art proposes to use devices comprising two receptacles for tapes. But this solution adds cost to the recording devices, which will not be accepted from all potential buyers as only a small number of the buyers will actually use this functionality. A recording apparatus (1) for recording of audio signals is proposed comprising an external interface (6) for an exchangeable storage medium (7) and an 4 intermediate memory device (5), whereby the recording apparatus (1) is realized to use the intermediate memory device (5) and the storage medium (7) for storing the audio signals, whereby the recording apparatus (1) is realized for an interruption-free storage of the audio signals during a storage medium (7) exchange, wherein a first storage medium is exchanged by a second storage medium, whereby during the storage medium (7) exchange the audio signals are stored on the intermediate memory device (5) and whereby the audio signals stored on the intermediate memory device (5) are transferred to the second storage medium.

摘要: An information recording/reproducing device is provided with a tray (3) having holders (2, 4) for holding a disc (9) on a disc placing part(11) by permitting the disc to overhang on a part of the disc placing part (11) in a vertically laid status. The information recording/reproducing device is provided with a means for detecting an abnormally mounted status, wherein the disc (9) is placed on the disc placing part (11) through the holding holders (2, 4), by comparing a number of rotations or load torque measured at a prescribed time after a rotating means (8) is started, a measured time required for the number of rotations to reach a fixed number of rotations or a drive current measured when the number of rotations became the prescribed umber of rotations, with a previously stored threshold value. Thus, detection of the abnormally mounted status can be completed for the disc prior to starting recording or reproducing operation.

摘要: An optical disc reproducing device that composes a composite reproducing apparatus in accordance with the present invention includes an optical disc detecting portion which detects inserting and ejecting of an optical disc. The optical disc reproducing device also includes an identification information obtaining portion which obtains identification information to uniquely identify the optical disc from a management information recorded area of the optical disc. The identification information obtaining portion reads out the identification information and outputs it to a display device when inserting of the optical disc is detected by the optical disc detecting portion. An identification information recording portion which is included in the display device stores the identification information in a memory portion when the identification information is output from the optical disc reproducing device. Then an identification information display portion reads out the identification information and displays it on a display portion when it receives a command to display the identification information.
