A turkey call includes a housing and a striking plate for producing artificial turkey sounds when the striking plate is contacted by and moved relative to a rigid striking member that is moved relative thereto. The striking plate is preferably formed of an aluminum and includes a glare resistant striking surface. The glare resistant striking surface may also include a plurality of concentric grooves formed therein to allow for a more consistent turkey sound to be produced, even during adverse weather conditions.
Abstract:
An improved sound generator includes a vibrating plate and a casing. The vibrating plate may become concave upon pressure and may return to its convex shape automatically to generate vibration and thus sound. An elastic plate is attached to the convex surface of the vibrating plate. The elastic plate is made of a material which may quickly return to its normal state after being compressed. The elastic plates prevents direct contact between an object or finger exerting a force and the vibrating plate, which may reduce the amplitude and thus the sound generated. The elastic plate absorbs the external force and release instantly its potential energy to counter the force exerted thereon so that the deformation of the vibrating plate may speed up to enhance the amplitude and sound volume. The sound generator may be used in toys or to substitute conventional castanets.

The device comprises a shock wave generator (1, 2, 3) of the ballistic type comprising a projectile (1) provided to execute a to and fro movement within a guide tube, under the control of pneumatic means (13, 14, 5) disposed at one end of this guide tube. A waveguide (4, 19) exhibits an entrance interface (9) situated at the other end of the guide tube (2) and provided to be struck periodically by the projectile and thus to generate, by ballistic effect, ultrasonic shock waves. This waveguide per se is formed by a metal rod, one end of which forms the abovementioned entrance interface and can oscillate longitudinally within a guide (12), while its other end is provided to act by impact on the object (21) to be destroyed or to be processed.

An apparatus and method for producing sound, particularly unusual sound effects, wherein the apparatus comprises at least one diaphragm and a spring attached to the diaphragm, having a lowest resonance frequency less than 18 hertz. The apparatus includes a resonator affixed to the diaphragm.According to the method of the invention, sounds are produced on an instrument having a spring and a diaphragm connected to the spring by exciting an echophone frequency of the spring by either activating longitudinal motion of the spring, jerking at least one end of the spring in a longitudinal direction, longitudinally displacing and releasing a section of the spring, and moving at least one end of the spring longitudinally in a rhythmic motion to excite an echophone frequency.
