摘要： An image forming solution applicator which is formed of a flexible, porous material, and which can absorb and hold an image forming solution supplied from an external portion, and from which absorbed and held image forming solution flows out due to the applicator contacting an image recording material, and which applies the image forming solution to the image recording material by moving while contacting the image recording material. An average porosity of a portion of the applicator to which the image forming solution is supplied is greater than an average porosity of a portion of the applicator which contacts the image recording material. Accordingly, supplied image forming solution smoothly penetrates into the applicator, and is quickly absorbed and stably retained by the applicator.

摘要： A system and method for processing a flexible photosensitive sheet or web material (PSM) including a photographic emulsion on at least one of the faces thereof employs a reservoir cell having an elongated cavity for containing a relatively small quantity of processing solution held therein in a sheet-like configuration and through which the PSM is routed during a processing operation. A pump is associated with the cell for circulating processing solution through the cell cavity from one end of the cavity to the other end thereof to enhance the distribution and mixing of the processing solution within the cavity. There is also associated with the cell a flat strip of substantially air-impermeable material for engagably overlying a substantial portion of the upper surface of the processing solution contained within the cavity to reduce the likelihood of oxidation of the solution if left within the cell for a prolonged period of time. The cell also includes an electric heating element secured in heat exchange relationship with the body of the cell and appropriate controls for controlling the temperature of the reservoir and to thereby control the temperature of the processing solution contained within the cell.

摘要： A motion picture film processing system employing an applicator having an orifice through which processing fluid may be expressed onto a strip of exposed film as the film is drawn across the face thereof. Processing fluid is initially stored in a collapsible container having a weakened portion adapted to rupture when a predetermined compressive force is applied to the container. An expandable chamber having a restricted exit orifice communicating with the applicator also has an entrance port connected to the weakened portion of the collapsible container. Positioned in operable relationship to the expandable chamber is a force applying member adapted to exert a pressure on the fluid after it has been received into that chamber to cause the fluid to be fed from the expandable chamber to the applicator. This system can advantageously be employed in a compact multipurpose film handling cassette adapted to be mounted in both a camera and a projector.

The projecting sheet abutting portion of the backing member deflects a part of the brushing portion of the brush away from the trailing edge of the sheet as the sheet passes downstream of the brush and thus prevents the trailing edge of the sheet from being distorted by the brush.

摘要： A photographic processing apparatus intended to process a photosensitive material with first and second processing ingredients includes a belt having first and second porous members located along the belt for absorbing first and second processing ingredients, respectively, and for transferring first and second processing ingredients so absorbed to the photosensitive material. The photosensitive material is moved against the porous members to compress the porous members to release the first and second processing ingredients from the porous members, to cause the first and second processing ingredients to be transferred to the photosensitive material from the porous members and to cause the ingredients to be mixed together to form a processing solution to process the photosensitive material. Furthermore, the movement of the photosensitive material over the porous members provides high agitation resulting in optimal processing of the photosensitive material.

摘要： Photographic apparatus and process employing an applicator body disposed in communication with a container of processing liquid and adapted for conduction of the liquid to a surface of the body which is pressed into contact with the photosensitive area of an exposed sheet of photographic material. The applicator body is of filter material which upon contact with the liquid is pervious to the liquid and impervious to gas within a given range of pressure differential such that upon application of a suitable pressure to the source, gas-free liquid is conducted to the applicator surface and uniformly distributed thereat. Preferably, the container of the source of liquid and the applicator body are provided in a disposable assembly adapted for releasable mounting on a camera, and the container includes a plurality of deformable areas which may be selectively activated for repetitive application of a differential pressure to the applicator body in accordance with processing of successive film sheets. Additionally, a movable member mounted within the camera, for pressing of each film sheet into contact with the applicator body, includes a resilient non-planar surface having a raised surface portion configured for displacement of air from between the photographic material and the applicator as the photographic material is pressed thereagainst.
