Abstract: The present disclosure provides an intermittently bonded optical fibre ribbon. The intermittently bonded optical fibre ribbon includes a plurality of optical fibres such that adjacent optical fibre of the plurality of optical fibres is bonded intermittently along the length by a plurality of bonds. The plurality of bonds is defined by a plurality of colours. The plurality of bonds may form a predefined pattern. The predefined pattern may be used for identification of the intermittently bonded optical fibre ribbon.

Abstract: An apparatus including a first ferrule, a second ferrule and a tracing fiber. The first ferrule may comprise a cap. The second ferrule may comprise the cap. The tracing fiber may be configured to propagate light from the first ferrule to the second ferrule. The first ferrule may enable the light to be directed into the tracing fiber when the cap is removed. The cap of the second ferrule may be configured to scatter the light to provide an omnidirectional emission of the light from the second ferrule. The tracing fiber may be bundled with one or more data carrying lines in a cable. Each of the data carrying lines may be configured to enable a communication of data. The tracing fiber may be configured to propagate the light without interrupting the communication of data.

Abstract: A fiber optic cassette includes a housing with a base and a cover. The base defines an open front between first and second sidewalls, which transition into first and second curved rear wall portions. The first and second curved rear wall portions define an adapter mount therebetween forming at least one pocket. A signal entry location defined by at least one MPO adapter is positioned within the pocket and defines an exterior port and an interior port. A fiber optic cable connectorized by an MPO format connector is mated to the exterior port. An adapter block defining a plurality of second fiber optic adapters is mounted to the base via a first snap-fit interlock to close the open front, each second fiber optic adapter including an exterior port and an interior port. An MPO format connector is mated to the interior port of the MPO format adapter and terminates a plurality of fibers that are terminated at opposite ends with connectors that are mated to the interior ports of the second fiber optic adapters, wherein each fiber extending from the adapter mount to the second fiber optic adapters being the same length and relaying the fiber optic signal to fiber optic connectors to be coupled to the exterior ports of the adapters of the adapter block.

Abstract: Enhanced traceability of cables is provided using illumination. An embodiment comprises introducing a chemiluminescent (alternatively, flourescent) solution into a chamber coupled to at least a portion of an insulating jacket that surrounds a transmission medium, the chamber being initially hollow and, in at least a portion thereof, comprised of a substance through which light is viewable, such that upon introduction of the solution through a port, light emitted by the solution is viewable through at least a portion of the chamber. In another embodiment, a first and second compartment contain a first and second substance, respectively, and are physically separated. When an opening is caused in the physical separation, the substances are allowed to mix, the substances being chosen as providing a chemiluminescent reaction upon the mixing, such that light emitted by the chemiluminescent reaction is viewable.

The separator material, when triggered to open, forms an opening between the compartments that allows the substances to mix, the substances being chosen as providing a chemiluminescent reaction upon the mixing, such that light emitted by the chemiluminescent reaction is viewable.
