    摘要: This invention concerns a circuit arrangement for visually representing a horizontal frequency coupled input signal on the picture screen of a video display device such as a domestic television receiver. This is achieved by comparing the input signal to be represented in visual form with a vertical frequency sawtooth signal, the comparison being effected in such manner that a further signal is produced which identifies the moments when the two compared signals are equal. The further signal is then used directly or indirectly to control the brightness of the picture screen of the video display device. The further signal may be a pulse form signal with the leading flanks of the pulses corresponding to moments when the input signal crosses the sawtooth signal upwardly and the trailing flanks corresponding to the moments when the input signal crosses the sawtooth signal downwardly. The further signal is preferably differentiated prior to application to the display device.

    摘要: The minimum and maximum values attained by an analog data signal in each of successive sampling periods are determined by alternately operative amplitude detectors which produce and store a corresponding minimum and maximum signal for each of these periods. A generator produces a ramp signal which repeats in each period in synchronism with the sweep of the beam of a fiber optics strip cathode ray tube along the strip thereof. A record sheet is advanced at right angles to this strip. Comparators are operative in each period to compare the stored detector signals of the immediately preceding period with the ramp signal, and to produce an output when the ramp signal exceeds either of the detector signals. An EXCLUSIVE OR gate receives these outputs and unblanks the normally blanked tube beam for a time in each period to produce a line on the sheet extending along the strip between points representing the minimum and maximum signal values for the preceding period. The successive lines of the successive periods combine to form a recorded curve for the data signal.

    摘要: The values of a plurality of data signals to be plotted against time as curves on a moving photosensitive record sheet are sampled by being simultaneously compared continuously with a single cyclically repeated ramp voltage by a plurality of comparators. Each of the latter produces an output each time that the ramp voltage just exceeds the value of the corresponding signal. The ramp voltage is synchronized with the horizontal sweep for a fiber optics cathode-ray tube, across the optics strip of which the record sheet is advanced at right angles. An EXCLUSIVE OR gate for each signal unblanks the normally blanked beam of the tube for a period in each sweep to mark a line on the sheet. Each period is that in which the ramp voltage lies between the two values of the corresponding signal at which the corresponding comparator output is produced for the present and the immediately previous sweeps. The lines produced for each signal combine to form a recorded curve for that signal. In one form, each gate is controlled by the corresponding comparator output applied both directly and through a device providing a delay of one sweep period. In another form, each gate is controlled by two comparator outputs, one based on the present value of the corresponding signal, and the other based on a stored value of that signal from the previous sweep.
