    摘要: An unmanned submersible vehicle for use in a body of liquid having a top surface and in air overlying the top surface includes a hull, an integral antenna, and an antenna positioning system. The hull has first and second opposed ends. The hull includes a first hull portion adjacent the first end and a second hull portion adjacent the second end. The antenna is disposed within the first hull portion and/or is mounted on the first hull portion. The antenna positioning system is configured to reorient the hull from a transit position to a signal position. When the hull is in the signal position: the first hull portion and the antenna are disposed above the second hull portion a greater vertical distance than when the hull is in the transit position; the first hull portion and the antenna are disposed above the top surface and in the air while at least the second hull portion remains submerged in the body of liquid; and the antenna is operative to emit signals through the air above the top surface and/or to receive signals through the air above the top surface.

    摘要: A beacon recovery system for a floatable hull type ocean device, such as a torpedo, wherein the system includes a cylindrical housing which has a top opening. The housing is capable of being mounted in the ocean device with the top opening flush with the exterior surface of the hull of the device, and the housing has a port for flooding the device with ambient ocean water. A piston casing is slidably mounted in the cylindrical housing and sealed thereto for sealing the port from the ocean water. Beacon means are mounted in the piston casing and capable of transmitting beacon signals from the top portion of the piston casing, and means are mounted in the housing for biasing the piston casing upwardly out of the housing. Latch means are provided for retaining and releasing the piston casing at a first position flush with the hull and a second position partially extended from the hull. Timing means are mounted in the housing for releasing the piston casing from the first position and activating the beacon means and then, after an interval of time, releasing the piston casing from the second position. In this manner, the beacon means is enabled to transmit beacon signals while the piston casing is partially extended and, after the interval of time, the piston casing is enabled for jettisoning so that the ocean device can be flooded through port and sunk.

    摘要: A water activated device having a lower casing with a cavity into which a spring is received, followed by a plunger and a bobbin. The lower casing attaches to an upper casing which houses a floatation member and includes a central aperture sized to allow the plunger to pass. The bobbin is sandwiched between the floatation member and the plunger. The floatation member defines a line holding dispensing spool such that one end of a line is attached to the spool and the opposite end of the line is attached to the device. The bobbin is the water sensitive trigger: when the water comes in contact with the bobbin, the bobbin starts to disintegrate losing its structural integrity, allowing force to enable the spring, forcing the plunger against the floatation member which discharges the floatation member from the upper casing. Once the floatation member is discharged, the floatation member floats to the water surface.

    摘要: A torpedo recovery system is provided with a hull and a float conformable on a host vehicle and lifting wire coiled on a spool attached by an extension spring as well as with an anchor to the float. An oval hole penetrates the recovery system hull at positions lined with a watertight sleeve. The spool can accommodate a locking pin. The extension spring allows compliance for take-up of the spool by having the locking pin mate with an aperture and adds a wire pre-tension. Upon vehicle shutdown; the locking pin is retracted to free the spool from a rotational constraint. The float buoyancy translates into pulling the wire from the spool with the float and extension spring continuing to the water surface. Once the float reaches the surface; the float provides a visual location for the host vehicle. The float is retrieved and a winch can recover the lightweight torpedo.
