    Abstract: A riser for an archery bow is formed from a fibrous composite material, the matrix of which may be a high heat distortion thermoplastic polymer, a very high heat distortion thermoplastic polymer, or a combination thereof. The riser may incorporate a spine formed from a different polymer or composite than the rest of the riser, or from metal. A method for producing a riser for an archery bow includes the steps of introducing a polymeric composite into a mold from a first end of the mold to facilitate a particular orientation of components of the polymeric composite, molding the polymeric composite to produce a billet that approximates a net shape of the riser, and then machining the billet to the final shape of the riser.

    Abstract: A power-variable bow has a bow string and a single piece resilient bow limb having a width and a first and second outer end. A member has a nock end, with the member being removably attached to each of the bow limb first and second outer ends. The power-variable bow may further comprise a section, removably attachable to the bow limb, for increasing the amount of power imparted to an arrow by the bow. In a further embodiment of the bow, in place of the nock end member is a terminal end attached to each of the bow limb first and second outer ends, the terminal end having bow stringing cable grooves and bow string grooves. This embodiment may further be converted into a power-variable compound bow.

    Abstract: The invention relates to an archery bow having a handle with a longitudinal axis and first and second handle ends. The bow also has an upper limb and a lower limb extending generally in a direction along the longitudinal axis. Each limb has first and second edges defining a limb width, a limb thickness, a proximal end, a distal end, and a working region between the proximal and distal ends of each limb. The first and second handle ends are attached to each limb at the respective proximal end of each limb. The proximal end of each limb has a proximal width and the distal end of each limb has a distal width. Each limb further has a concave surface extending generally between the first and second edges. Each concave surface has an opening and first and second transition points located at opposing sides of the opening of the concave surface. There is a transverse width defined by a distance between the transition points, which transverse width is substantially unchanged when the bow is drawn to a full draw position as compared to when the bow is in an undrawn position. The concave surface(s) can instead be a convex surface(s) in various forms of the present invention.
