Abstract: The present invention relates to a solid fuel boiler, comprising a fire place with a burner, a flue gas passage with a flue gas outlet, an inlet for cold air, a convection space for heat exchange of cold air with the flue gas passage, and an outlet for hot air, wherein the flue gas passage comprises a tube kit with a plurality of tubes arranged adjacent to each other to create a flow space for air between the tubes, wherein at least one of said tubes is arranged so that it extends obliquely upwards in an acute angle in relation to the vertical line of the boiler from a lower attachment point to an upper attachment point.

Abstract: A heating unit and solid fuel feeder comprises a vertical furnace having a combustion chamber for burning solid fuel, a water jacket around the combustion chamber and an exhaust chamber at an upper outlet end of the combustion chamber. A plenum box is connected to the furnace and defines an interior space. Water circulation tubes extend from an upper end of the water jacket, through the plenum and into a water tank positioned on an opposite side of the plenum. Additional water tubes are connected between a lower end of the water tank and a lower end of the jacket. Water circulates as hot water rises in the jacket and falls in the water tank. A plurality of exhaust conduits which also extend in the plenum, are connected between the exhaust chamber and a smoke box. A stack is connected to the exhaust box. Air flowing or blown through the plenum picks up heat from the water pipes and exhaust conduit. Hot water from the tank may be used as an additional source of heat or to heat domestic hot water.

Abstract: A heating stove has a fire box composed of first and second pluralities of parallel aligned connected vertically oriented curved open-ended conduits lower extremities of the conduits of said first and second pluralities being aligned for contacting a common planar surface to support the stove, with the fire box further being formed by generally planar front and back plates, of substantially the same size and shape, with the front plate having an inlet port therethrough and the back plate having an exhaust port therein. The conduit central portions are largely within the stove fire box. A baffle within the fire box promotes three-pass flow of hot air across the conduit surfaces within the fire box. The first and second pluralities of curved conduits are opposed and in interdigitated engagement. Curved strips separate the curved conduits and thus facilitate stove construction with the conduits in interdigitated engagement. A closing mechanism for the stove door operates with caming action to assure that the door, when closed, is tightly fastened so that the hot coals cannot escape. In another embodiment, the fire box is cylindrical, formed by two curved side plates and two generally planar end plates, and the curved conduits pass through the fire box.

Abstract: A furnace and method of operation are disclosed for the efficient, controlled combustion of a combustible material such as wood, coal, etc. The furnace includes a grate which grate permits a large amount of combustible material to be stacked within the grate and to be constantly compressed to insure efficient combustion. The furnace also includes a heat exchanger surrounding the grate, which heat exchanger is comprised of an intake jacket and an exhaust jacket disposed on opposite sidewalls of the furnace. The heat exchanger also includes a plurality of heat exchange tubes disposed above and behind the grate and connecting the jackets. Air is drawn into one of the jackets, is directed through the heat exchange tube where the air is heated, and is exhausted through the other jacket. A portion of the heat exchanger intake air is diverted through a perforated air delivery tube disposed adjacent to the grate to provide combustion air for the combustible material. A combustion control system is provided wherein the fire is quenched whenever over-temperature conditions are reached. The combustion control system also includes adjustment of the amount of combustion air directed through the perforated air delivery tube and operating in response to predetermined furnace temperatures. The furnace also includes a novel automatic control system and humidifier apparatus.

Abstract: An automatic biomass fuel burning heating device and method comprising a burn chamber having a sloped floor and a feed auger supplying biomass fuel to be burned. A burn chamber having a feed auger opening in a burn chamber wall. An ash auger to carry ash away from a base of said sloped floor and a heat exchanger carries supply air through the burn chamber to heat a space such as a brooder house. A fan drives supply air through the heat exchanger and a control regulates the speed of the fan and the operation of the feed auger. The control maintain supply air into the brooder house at a constant set temperature by varying the volume rate of air flow based on air inlet temperature and the temperature in the burn chamber.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for burning organic material including farm bedding waste of the present invention includes a firebox having an air injector disposed within the firebox. A heat exchanger is also disposed within the firebox above the air injector. The fuel to be burned, a mixture of organic farm bedding waste, is piled in the firebox surrounding the air injector and heat exchanger. By injecting air into the pile of fuel, the fuel is burned from the inside out, surrounding the heat exchanger with the burning fuel. The unburned fuel acts to insulate the burning fuel from the walls of the firebox.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for burning organic farm bedding waste includes a firebox having an air injector disposed within the firebox. A heat exchanger is also disposed within the firebox above the air injector. Abstract: A solid fuel furnace which includes a housing enclosing a firebox and a heat exchanger chamber. An open grate in the firebox supports solid fuel thereon. Combustion air is admitted to the area below the grate and is preheated and passes upwardly through the grate and fuel and mixes with volatile gases released from the fuel. The air/gas mixture is drawn downwardly through the fuel and exits the firebox through an inlet to an insulated burn-out chamber which is behind the firebox. A metal screen covers the inlet and serves to ignite the air/gas mixture. Hot flue gases exit the burn-out chamber to the heat exchanger chamber.
