Abstract:
One aspect is a detent device with a first hub having an axis and comprising a first feature having both a radial and an axial dimension relative to the hub axis, and having a first hub connection portion. A second hub is located co-axially outside the first hub and comprises a second feature having both a radial and an axial dimension relative to the hub axis, the second feature of the second hub touching the first feature of the first hub when the features are aligned. The second hub has a second hub connection portion. The first and second features have complementary mating geometries. The detent device is configured such that when relative movement is provided to the first and second hub connection portions, a circumferential strain energy of the second hub changes, providing a variable force between the two connection portions depending on their relative position.
Abstract:
A torque limiting tool is provided that has a handle and a body, which in certain embodiments may be assembled by an operator. The body of the torque limiting tool has a side portion with a tubing slot for allowing tubing to exit the torque limiting tool. The handle and body have one or more abutments, designed to allow the torque limiting tool to deliver a maximum amount of torque. The torque limiting tool may be used with an adapter to allow coupling with a variety of fitting sizes and shapes. The torque limiting tool may be adapted for use with a flat bottom port, such as in an analytical instrument, like liquid chromatography, gas chromatography, ion chromatography, or in in vitro diagnostic systems.
Abstract:
A transmission generally includes a shaft member having a continuous cylindrical surface portion longitudinally disposed next to a cylindrical outer surface portion interrupted by longitudinal grooves. A first gear assembly has a first clutch spring that holds a first set of rolling members between lobes that extend from a first output gear. A second gear assembly has a second clutch spring that holds a second set of rolling members between lobes that extend from a second output gear. The first gear assembly and the second gear assembly are configured to move longitudinally along the shaft member to a position where at least one of the first gear assembly and the second gear assembly is engaged for rotation with the shaft member when a value of torque at the shaft member is below a torque threshold value.
Abstract:
In a friction coupling for the torque-limiting transmission of force between a core of a coil for winding or unwinding a tape and a rotary support for said core there is a first coupling component with an annular cross-section and a second coupling component taking the form of a moulding, in which the annular coupling component is in frictional engagement at several spaced contact points distributed over its periphery with contact area regions on the moulding, and in which one of the two coupling components is secured to the core of the coil, and the other coupling component is a component of the rotary support. The moulding is rigidly dimensionally stable while the annular first coupling component is made of a flexible material. On the occurrence of a relative movement between the two coupling components, the moulding continually deforms the annual coupling component via the contact points.
Abstract:
A geared motor reduces a speed of rotation of a DC motor with a gear train and outputs the rotation to the outside. The gear train includes a second gear including a cylindrical portion a third gear a first insertion portion that is inserted in the cylindrical portion the second gear. The second gear and the third gear are made of a resin material. A projecting-and-recessed portion is provided on an inner peripheral surface of the cylindrical portion of the second gear. The projecting-and-recessed portion extends continuously in a circumferential direction over the entire circumference of the inner peripheral surface of the cylindrical portion. Pressing portions are evenly arranged in the circumferential direction on an outer peripheral surface of the first insertion portion of the third gear. The pressing portions are configured enter recesses in the projecting-and-recessed portion and press wall surfaces of the recesses.

Abstract:
A radially soft drive coupling for reducing vibration transmitted across the coupling in certain marine drive applications. The elastomeric elements interconnecting the hub and housing are precompressed by an amount which is at least in the range of 15-20% to produce significant radial and torsional softening of the spring rate of the elastomer. The radial spring rate whose magnitude expressed in lb/in is in the range of between one half and three times the magnitude of said design torque level expressed in lb-in.
Abstract:
A clutch assembly for an accumulating roller conveyer such that torque transmission is accomplished by using clutch plates of deformable material which in association engage with the conveyer drive and conveyer rollers to allow the bearings to deform the surfaces of the clutch plates in transmitting the torque from the drive to the rollers.
