Abstract:
An applicator for a film carried on a tape has a housing having a main part and a cover part that normally fit complementarily together. A supply spool on which the tape carrying the film is wound is rotatable in the main housing part. A takeup spool onto which the tape is wound is rotatable in the main housing part adjacent the supply spool. A slide is displaceable longitudinally in the housing between a retracted inner end position relatively close to the spools and an extended outer end position relatively far from the spools and projecting from the housing. The tape is spanned over an applicator foot fixed on and displaceable with the slide. Structure on the housing releasably retains the foot and slide in the front extended position. The spools can be replaced by removing the housing cover part and then pushing the foot back into the inner end position, thereby taking all tension off the tape. The two spools are then removed and a new set of spools joined by a new tape are set in place. The new tape is hooked over the retracted foot and same is pushed into the outer end position, thereby tensioning the tape. The cover part is reinstalled and the reloading is complete.
Abstract:
The cap for the writing instrument comprises a jacket mounted slidably on a sealing insert or sleeve which provides a sealed moisture chamber for the writing tip when the cap is on the writing instrument. Near the writing tip there is a circular bulge on the shaft of the writing instrument which enters into a sealing engagement with an interior passage of the sealing insert. On putting the cap on the writing instrument the sealing insert is pushed over the circular bulge until it contacts a contacting stop on the jacket. Then the circular bulge presses tightly into the sealing insert and it locks the jacket to the writing instrument so that the entire arrangement is kept in that position until the cap is removed. A signal slider is attached with the sealing insert which is extendable out from the end of the jacket in order to signal in its extended position the proper seating of the cap on the writing instrument. Erroneous indications of a sealed state are prevented with our invention.
Abstract:
A method of and apparatus for the production of wicking tips for pens and markers in which the blanks, pointed at their ends, are first notched on opposite sides and are then cut through between the notches to form two tips from each blank. The invention simplifies the sharpening and dressing required of the tools which are used.
Abstract:
A writing wick for felt markers and pens is formed by an elongate bundle of individual monofilament thermoplastic strands. Longitudinal channels are defined between the strands. The strands are selectively merged parallel to the direction of the longitudinal axis of the bundle sealing and isolating the longitudinal channels from each other and outwardly enclosing the channels. The longitudinal channels defined by selectively merged strands are operatively interconnected by radial capillary ring grooves (14) or by axially extending capillary incisions 15 penetrating from the outside of the bundle inwardly in the vicinity of the writing tip of the wick. Several longitudinal channel and interconnecting capillary ring grooves (14) or capillary incisions (15) may be used.
Abstract:
A device for transferring a film from a carrier strip a substrate comprises a supply reel for the film coated carrier strip and an empty reel for receiving the de-coated carrier strip. The carrier strip is guided over an applicator base and over deflector rollers. The effective working edge of applicator base is arranged to be inclined at a fixed angle between 40° and 50° relative to the reel axes.
Abstract:
A hand-held device for transferring a film from a carrier tape to a substrate includes an applicator with an end projecting from a housing around which the carrier tape coming from a supply roll is guided to a take-up spool and on which contact surfaces are provided for the "pull" and "push" operating modes of the device, the carrier tape being pressed against the substrate by the contact surfaces for the purpose of transferring the film. The applicator contains two application toes which are separated from one another by an empty space and each of which carries one of the two contact surfaces.
Abstract:
A dispenser for a film carried on a tape has a cartridge in which is rotatable a supply spool on which the tape carrying the film is wound and a takeup spool onto which the tape is also wound. The cartridge further has a guide over which the tape passes between the spools and a one-way clutch or brake engaged between the takeup spool and the cartridge for permitting the takeup spool to rotate only in a direction winding up the tape. A brake is provided that resists rotation of the supply spool on the cartridge in a direction corresponding to unwinding of the tape from the supply spool with a force that, after a predetermined number of revolutions of the spool, decreases as the tape is unwound from the supply spool.
Abstract:
An indicating cap for a writing instrument has an insert with a blind passage adapted to fit over the tip of e.g. a felt or fiber tip pen or marker and axially movable in a sleeve forming a cap between two limiting positions. One of these positions is defined by a spring detent shoulder against which a shoulder of the insert abuts when the cap is withdrawn from the writing implement. When the cap is thrust properly onto the writing implement the insert is pressed into its second position in which a pin of appropriate color is visible through an end of the sleeve where the projecting pin can be protected by a hood or basket.
Abstract:
A device for transferring a film from a carrier strip onto a substrate includes a housing having a supply reel and an empty reel. A film coated carrier strip is guided over an applicator foot where a clip-type slide element is provided in the region around which the carrier strip is looped. The clip-type slide element is made of a friction-reducing material secured to the applicator foot. The slide element has an elliptical cross-sectional shape so that on transfer of the film onto the substrate the contact pressure region of the slide element bears over an area adjacent to the substrate with interposition of the carrier strip.
