Abstract:
The device comprises a driving hub (4, 18) coaxially connected to one shaft (20) and oscillatably engaging a number of planetary gear elements (8, 25) homogeneously distributed around the axis of said hub. The planetary gear elements (8, 25) are engaged between a driven crown wheel (6, 21) which is coaxially fastened to a second shaft (3, 23) and an intermediate crown wheel (7, 24) oscillatably linked to the driven crown wheel (6, 21). The planetary gear elements (8, 25) driven in rotation by the hub (4, 18), are guided by the driven crown wheel (6, 21) and the intermediate crown wheel (7, 24) according to an elliptic path submitting them to a cyclic reciprocating movement relative to the axis of the driving hub (4, 18). An actuator (12, 35) tends to cause the driven crown wheel (6, 21) and intermediate crown wheel (7, 24) to rotate in opposite ways in view of transmitting resultant forces counteracting their being driven by the hub (4, 18) to the planetary gear elements (8, 25).
Abstract:
In the invention a flexible drill pipe comprising a plurality of short tube sections assembled end to end. Each short tube section having the same number and type of saw tooth shaped gear teeth cut around the circumference of each end of the short tube section. The orientation of the gear teeth on each end of the short tube section is such that the gear teeth of the short tube sections will intermesh when the short tube sections are assembled end to end. The plurality of short tube sections assembled end to end carries the torque load of the flexible drill pipe. A tool joint is interfaced on each of the plurality of short tube sections. The end of the tool joints that interfaces with the plurality of short tube sections has the same overall diameter and internal diameter and the same type and number of gear teeth as the short tube section. Wire rope lengths are assembled around and parallel to a hose used to carry drilling fluids through the flexible drill pipe. The wire rope lengths assembled around the hose extend through the plurality of short tube sections into and attaches to the tool joints. The wire rope assembly carries the tension loads on the flexible drill pipe. At selected intervals along the plurality of short tube sections, selected short tube sections are cemented or other wise attached to the part of the wire rope assembly they enclose.
Abstract:
Apparatus for transferring torque from a driving shaft to a driven shaft include an outer coupling body attached to the driven shaft defining an interior cylindrical cavity and which is movable both rotatably and axially between an idling and a coupling position, an inner coupling body disposed within the cavity having a lower portion concentric with respect to the cavity and an upper portion having an interior coupling surface eccentric with respect to the cavity. The driving shaft extends within the inner body and has a first coupling member engaging the interior coupling surface and a second coupling member which engages the inner coupling body when the outer coupling body is in its idling position and which is disengaged therefrom when the outer coupling body is in its coupling position. When the outer coupling body is in its idling or disengaged position, the inner coupling body rotates concentically within the interior of the outer coupling body due to the engagement of the second coupling member with the inner coupling body. Upon the outer coupling body being moved to its coupling position, the second coupling member becomes disengaged from the inner coupling body whereupon the inner coupling body which tends to rotate about its eccentric axis through engagement between the first coupling member and the interior coupling surface, tilts and binds against the interior cavity to rotatably couple the outer coupling member to the inner coupling body.
Abstract:
A clutch mechanism that can be used in various tools and mechanisms for holding a movable shaft in one or more preferred positions includes a clutch ring that surrounds the shaft. An interior diameter of the clutch ring is configured to closely surround and grasp one or more holding portions of the shaft. The clutch ring is configured such that the clutch ring can elastically deform to allow the shaft to move relative to the clutch ring. The clutch ring can take the form of a generally cylindrical sidewall. Openings may be formed through a thickness of the cylindrical sidewall to make it easier for portions of the clutch ring to elastically deform, thereby allowing the shaft to move relative to the clutch ring.
Abstract:
Among other things, a digitally controlled actuator has a connector for coupling to a drive mechanism of an existing hand-driven cartridge reloader, to actuate a series of processing cycles of the reloader in which supplies of components are subjected to successive mechanical processing steps to produce reloaded cartridges ready for use. There are sensors associated with the actuator and the reloader to (a) acquire digital information that is indicative of a state of progress of each of the processing cycles and of conditions of the reloader related to the production of the reloaded cartridges, and (b) deliver the digital information to a digital controller for controlling the processing cycles of the reloader. The digital controller is connected to receive the digital information from the sensors and to control automatic operation of the reloader in successive processing cycles to produce reloaded cartridges without requiring human intervention.
Abstract:
There is disclosed a transmission between an orbiting element and an element rotating on its own centers. It is disclosed particularly in connection with a motor operating on the Moineau principle and the invention replaces the conventional connecting rod with double universal joints and it also can modify the ball and tube arrangement disclosed in earlier patents.
