Abstract:
Transportation assemblies for rotor blades are provided. A transportation assembly includes a protection cap including a nose portion and a plurality of sidewall portions extending from the nose portion, the protection cap having a generally U-shaped cross-sectional profile. The transportation assembly further includes a restraint assembly including a first protrusion and a second protrusion each extending from the protection cap, the first protrusion and the second protrusion spaced apart along a width of the protection cap.
Abstract:
A method is provided for replacing a permanent magnet of a generator of a wind turbine from a first position to a second position. A container is provided having a shell and an opening through the shell. The opening defines an open space for storing the permanent magnet. The open space is surrounded by the shell, and the shell having a thickness that provides that the permanent magnet does not come close enough to other magnetic material to exert significant force on it. The method involves placing the permanent magnet from the first position into the container, transporting the container with the permanent magnet to the second position, removing the permanent magnet from the container, and placing the permanent magnet in the second position.
Abstract:
A transport system for a wind turbine nacelle is provided. The transport system comprises a first trailer and a second trailer, as well as a first leg arrangement attached to a front end or a rear end of the nacelle and a second leg arrangement attached to a bottom portion of the nacelle. A bridge assembly interconnects the first trailer and the second trailer and is fixed to the first leg arrangement and to the second leg arrangement to define a stable frame suspended between the first trailer and the second trailer for the nacelle.
Abstract:
A system and method for transporting a first and second airfoil using a center railcar coupled to two additional railcars. A pair of root brackets support the root ends of the two airfoils on the two additional cars, aligning the two airfoils over the center car. A lower sling stand on the center railcar has a pair of vertical side members extending upwardly to hang a lower sling that support the first airfoil. An upper sling stand has a base that is supported by the lower sling stand, and also has a pair of upper side members that support an upper sling. The second airfoil is supported by the upper sling. The upper sling stand is fixedly supported on the lower sling stand so as to support the second airfoil above the first airfoil in overlapping fashion.
Abstract:
A wind turbine nacelle is provided. The wind turbine nacelle includes a longitudinal extension and a bottom part. The longitudinal extension has a rear end and a front end. At the bottom part, an opening is located which serves as an interface to a tower of a wind turbine at a designated assembly situation of the nacelle. A first detachable leg arrangement is attached to at least one of the front end and the rear end. A second detachable leg arrangement is attached at the bottom part. Further embodiments are directed to a transport system for a wind turbine nacelle and to a method for transporting a wind turbine nacelle.

Abstract:
A fixture for attachment of an end of a member, such as a wind turbine tower section, blade or hub for a wind turbine characteristically has an end flange. To enable clamping while being able to compensate for different hole patterns in the flanges, by the invention, the fixture provides for retaining of ends of members with flanges, regardless of flange diameter and hole patterns, and which is also quickly and easily installed. Additionally, it is possible to firmly clamp the flange end to upstanding frame parts of the fixture with fastening elements, thereby providing a stable connection between a console of the fixture and the upstanding frame parts.

Abstract:
A transportation system is disclosed for transporting a rotor blade having a first end and a second end defining a rotor blade length. The transportation system includes a truck configured to transport the rotor blade, the truck including a bed having a forward end and a distal end defining a bed length. The transportation system further includes a first fixture configured on the bed, the first fixture comprising a generally arcuate guide member and a support frame slidable along the guide member, the support frame configured to support the rotor blade. The transportation system further includes a second fixture configured on the bed for one of slidable support or rotatable support of the rotor blade. Movement of at least one of the first fixture or the second fixture rotates the rotor blade within a plane defined by the bed.
