Abstract:
The invention relates to an emergency start system (20) for a turbine engine of an aircraft, characterised in that it comprises at least one solid-propellant gas generator (22), an electrically controlled ignition device (24), a computer (28) connected to the ignition device, and at least one starter motor (18) comprising a turbine (38) for driving a shaft (34) intended for being coupled to a shaft (54) of the turbine engine, the outlet of the gases from the generator being connected to the inlet (44) of the turbine of the starter motor.
Abstract:
A turbojet engine one-shot start system utilizes ignition and fuel delivery system components capable of pneumatic actuation and pressurization to initiate the engine start sequence thereby obviating the need for expensive shielded electrical controls and pumps.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method for igniting a secondary pyrotechnic charge is provided, which uses hot gases produced by a first generating means to effect the secondary ignition. The hot gases from the heat generating means are directed through a heat transfer member in a second generating means, and heat from the gases is transferred to the secondary pyrotechnic charge, which is associated with the heat transfer member. Once ignited, the secondary charge provides flames and hot gases to effect the purpose of the application at hand, e.g., jet engine burner ignition.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a drive chain for driving the rotor(s) (21, 22) of a helicopter, comprising a main transmission gearbox (24) capable of driving the rotor(s) (21, 22) when said gearbox is moving, a main engine (23) for providing the power for the flight, and at least one assistance drive module (31), the main engine (23) and the assistance drive module (31) being mechanically connected to said main transmission gearbox (24) so as to induce the movement of said gearbox. The drive chain is characterised in that the assistance drive module comprises a pyrotechnic device for generating a torque on a power transmission shaft that is mechanically connected to the main transmission gearbox (24). The invention also relates to a helicopter comprising said drive chain.
Abstract:
An emergency starter that allows responsiveness within a few seconds, without having disadvantages associated with mass and size of a back-up hydraulic or pneumatic starter. An instantaneous gas thrust of pyrotechnic type is coupled with a positive displacement transmission generator in conjunction with automatic coupling to/uncoupling from a set that is to be started. An emergency start-up system includes at least one pyrotechnic gas generator connected to an electrical initiator itself connected to a computer, a positive displacement motor housing straight-cut gears, the pyrotechnic gas generator being coupled to the motor by an inlet in the casing. The motor includes a mechanism of connection capable of moving at one end of the drive shaft configured to couple the transmission shaft to a driven shaft of the set that is to be started via a centrifugal clutch.
Abstract:
An engine generator for driving an air motor to energize an engine is provided which reduces an installation space and facility and running costs. The engine generator (EG) is attached to a fire extinguishing facility (14). The fire extinguishing facility is designed to eject unburnable gas supplied from gas containers (11) and comprises an air motor (10) for driving an engine, and a valve unit (12) designed to drive in response to an instruction signal, control a pressure of the unburnable gas from the gas container and supply the pressure controlled unburnable gas to the air motor (10).
