Abstract:
An actuating system for an actuatable door and to an actuatable door having such an actuating system are provided. The actuating system comprises first and second rotatable latching shafts, a coupling link, first and second pivotable mechanical transmission elements that are mounted onto first and second rotatable latching shafts, respectively, and first and second latching members. First and second latching members are non-rotatably mounted to the second rotatable latching shaft and adapted for latching the actuatable door in a closed position. A first rotation of the first rotatable latching shaft results in pivoting of the first and second mechanical transmission elements and a second rotation of the second rotatable latching shaft, which causes a third rotation of first and second latching members.
Abstract:
A sliding door is provided including a panel configured to slide along a path; a holding member transversely disposed with respect to the path in a location along the path, the holding member defining a channel configured for receiving therein at least a segment of the panel, the holding member further including an abutting portion transversely extending inside the channel defining an opening configured to allow sliding of the segment therethrough; and a stop member being displaceable between an engaged state in which a first end of the stop member engages the abutting portion and the first side portion of the holding member, and a second end of the stop member engages the segment precluding thereby sliding of the panel at least in a direction towards the abutting portion and a disengaged state in which the stop member disengages the segment allowing thereby sliding the panel towards the abutting portion.
Abstract:
An earthquake resisting door has locking mechanisms between the door panel top, sides, and the bottom foundation. Included are self-contained limited uplift resisting end posts, one or more door panels made of wood, steel, or other suitable material that can act as a shear wall or brace frame, and segmented door panels that can be designed for roll-up or folding. The segments interlock to create one solid wall or arrangement of segments that creates brace frame action. An inter-locking mechanism engages adjacent door leaves in a casement arrangement and creates one panel.
Abstract:
A latch arrangement for fastening a panel of a door or a window to a frame element, the panel including a depression is provided. The latch arrangement includes a locking element pivotally mounted on the frame element and displaceable between a locked position in which the locking element is engaged with the depression of the panel locking thereby the panel to the frame element, and an unlocked position in which the locking element is disengaged from the depression of the panel unlocking thereby the panel from the frame element, a stop latch selectively deployable to secure the locking element in the locked position, precluding thereby displacement of the locking element to the unlocked position; and an actuating mechanism configured to selectively pivot the locking element away from the depression to the unlocked position.
Abstract:
A door lock assembly for use with a door having a frame element that includes a main body and a pair of opposed sides that forms a channel therebetween. One of the sides of the main body has a connector portion. The assembly also includes a movable locking assembly that is coupled to the connector portion of the frame element and has one or more elongated locking elements that is movable between a locked position and an unlocked position. The assembly also includes a latch assembly configured for coupling a door to a door frame, and if desired an actuator assembly.
Abstract:
A gravity actuated locking device for a container having a hinged lid, comprises a base unit adapted to be fixed to the container and a pivoting unit pivotally mounted to the base unit. The pivoting unit includes a locking mechanism mounted therein for rotation about the base unit. In turn, the locking mechanism comprises a circular rolling member that translates from a blocking position preventing relative movement between the pivoting unit and the base unit to a release position permitting relative movement between the pivoting unit and the base unit.
Abstract:
A hatch or door system for closing an opening in a surrounding structure has a panel assembly having a metal frame enclosing a composite material panel. An operating mechanism is operative in a first stage to hold the panel assembly in the closed position. In a second stage, a discrete-to-continuous latching mechanism of the operating mechanism seals the frame within the opening.
Abstract:
A closure assembly including an outer and an inner frame (11.16); and a frame hinge (23) including a first frame hinge member having a generally cylindrically shaped bead associated with one of said frames and a second frame hinge member having a complementary socket associated with the other of said frames, at least one frame includes a flange spaced apart from the frame hinge member associated with the at least one frame to cooperate with said frame hinge member to prevent disengagement of said frame hinge member from the other frame hinge member in a closed condition. The assembly also includes a latch (60) hingedly mounted on the outer frame by a hinge having a generally cylindrically shaped bead associated with the latch and a complementary socket associated with the outer frame, the latch including a latch flange spaced apart from the bead to cooperate with a flange (86) on the inner frame to prevent disengagement of the bead from the socket and retain the inner frame in a closed condition.
Abstract:
The invention comprises trunk lock apparatus for locking a trunk having a rectangular bottom with upright front and rear and side panels, with a rectangular lid pivotally mounted at its rear edge to the top of the rear panel of the receptacle bottom of the trunk. The trunk lock apparatus has a horizontal latch panel pivotally mounted to the front panel of the receptacle near the top of the front panel which is pivotally mounted its top edge to pivot in an arc about its bottom edge forward toward the front panel and rearward away from the front panel with spring means urging the latch panel rearward. The lid has a downward projecting flange mounted to the underside of its forward edge and projecting downward therefrom with a forward projecting lip portion at the bottom of the flange. The lid is adapted to be pivoted downward onto the top of the receptacle with the forward projecting lip horizontally adjacent the rear of the horizontal latch panel when the lid is closed flush on the top of the receptacle so that when flush the spring means will urge the horizontal latch panel rearward over the top of the horizontal lip of the lid and thereby lock the lid in its closed position by preventing the lid from being pivoted upward and away from the receptacle of the trunk.
Abstract:
Provided is an apparatus for use for a pivotally mounted door disposed in a wall and usually mounted within a door frame. Pivotal mounting of the door is on a hinge. The security apparatus is mounted to a door frame or wall above the door by any suitable technique and is comprised principally of two main body portions in the form of a fixed clamshell and a pivoting clamshell connected by a piano hinge. These clamshell portions enclose a few operative portions of the structure including a locking mechanism preferably comprised of a pivoting key operated lock, a pivoting lock dog, a lock dog lip and a door strike plate. The fixed clamshell is attached to the wall or door frame top by apparatus that may include large size screws or bolts, or the device may be welded thereto as desired. The attaching means is contained within the clamshell enclosure to prevent tampering therewith. The clamshell portions are formed of plates and ends to totally enclose at all times operative portions of the apparatus. Also included is a door strike plate, which is a U-shaped structure attached to the exterior of the door in proximity to the pivoting clamshell portion. Attachment is by conventional techniques including screws or bolts or by welding to the exterior of a metal door since access to the fastening apparatus is also denied the unauthorized intruder when the pivoting clamshell is locked to prevent access.
