A method for producing environmentally friendly fabric and textile products without use of chemicals comprises a finishing process including the steps of: singeing, enzyme desizing; water washing, peaching, stentering, and sanforizing. The steps of the finishing process are purely physical and preferably uses only water, water vapor (steam), and enzymes, and not chemicals including chemical agents. As such, the finishing process is believed to be environmentally friendly.

A flame resistant fabric with better tear strength and specifically a flame resistant fabric with tear strength flame resistant 100% cotton yarn are provided. The 100% cotton yarn is produced using a combination of compact spinning technology and gassing and/or singeing process performed in tandem, the yarn is weaved into fabric by pre-established process and the fabric is flame retardant finished by using chemicals and lubricants by pre-established process to form the flame resistant fabric with better tear strength. Also, a method of manufacturing the flame resistant cotton fabric that has a better tear strength after fire resistant treatments provided. Advantageously, the flame resistant fabric is affordable, light weight and has better tensile and tear strength.

A nonwoven with a basically clean hole structure on a drum with plastic elevations can be produced by energy-rich water jets. Depending on the thickness of the fibers used in the nonwoven, however, certain fibers can nevertheless be stretched transversely across a hole. In order to avoid or eliminate this, the perforated nonwoven is subjected to singeing flames after drying.

An improved burner and manifold assembly for improving the appearance of fabrics is illustrated wherein a tubular cast iron burner of standard construction is provided with a tubular fuel supply manifold constructed from a material possessing a coefficient of expansion resulting in expansion substantially compatible with the coefficient of expansion of cast iron and obtaining temperatures so as to reduce the tendency of these elements to bow during operation of the singer. A number of intermediately spaced pass-through connectors are provided for providing a more even distribution of heat between the burner and manifold elements of the assembly, as well as providing more even fuel distribution, as well as increased rigidity and more uniform stress distribution through bracing.
