    Abstract: A method of making a steel with low carbon less than 0.035% by weight including steps of preparing a heat of molten steel composition in a steelmaking furnace to a tapping temperature as desired for desulfurization at a VTD, tapping open into a ladle the molten steel composition with an oxygen level between about 600 and 1120 ppm, providing slag forming compound to the ladle to form a slag cover over the molten steel composition in the ladle, transporting the molten steel to a VTD, decarburizing the molten steel composition at the VTD by drawing a vacuum of less than 650 millibars, after decarburizing, transporting the molten steel to an LMF and deoxidizing the molten steel composition, after deoxidizing, returning to the VTD to desulfurize and degas the molten steel composition, and casting the molten steel composition to form a steel with low carbon less than 0.035% by weight.

    Abstract: The method introduces additives into flowing gas, fluid or fluidized media in a pulsed high pressure manner. The nozzle needle of at least one nozzle is variable and highly precisely moved for the introduction by means of a device and in such a way that additive is dosed exactly in relation to the volume flow of the medium. The pulsating additive stream is injected into the flowing medium by at least one well-aimed nozzle opening. The additives are dosed by means of a pressure that can be variably adjusted by pulse width and pulse frequency. The desired homogenous distribution is obtained by the penetrating injection jet.

    Abstract: An apparatus for making lead-bearing steel which comprises a melting furnace, and a ladle for receiving a stream of molten steel discharging from said melting furnace and spaced therefrom. The lead is fed to the stream of molten steel at a point where the latter is being poured from the melting furnace to the ladle. The latter has an interior bottom surface and a ladle outlet adjacent thereto. The ladle outlet prevents substantially any lead deposited on the interior bottom surface of the ladle from being discharged from the ladle, when the latter is poured or tapped.

    Abstract: A method, an installation and a nozzle (1) for suppressing the generation of iron-containing vapor during filling or emptying of a container (2) for an iron-containing metal melt with the aid of CO2 snow, a CO2 snow jet (22) being applied by means of the nozzle (1) dispersing in a substantially planar manner onto a surface of an iron-containing stream (23) which is poured into or out of the container (2). The invention consequently at least partially solves the technical problems outlined in connection with the prior art. In particular, a device is proposed which allows cost-effective and space-saving suppression of the generation of iron-containing vapor during the filling or emptying of a container 2 with the aid of a reduced CO2 snow quantity.
