    摘要: A manufacturing line for tempering glass sheets includes a furnace, an oven, a bending station, and a chilling section positioned in order along a generally horizontally extending conveyor for the glass sheets. The oven extends between the furnace and the bending station to maintain the glass sheets at a predetermined temperature. The oven has sidewalls formed of a plurality of brushes and is selectively extensible along the path of travel of the glass sheets. The oven includes controlled heating devices. The chilling section includes a plurality of tubes positioned above and below the path of travel of the glass sheets and connected to a source of air under pressure. The tubes are arranged in rows generally perpendicular to the path of travel and columns generally parallel to the path of travel in order to cause the glass sheets to meet predetermined fragmentation specifications.

The method comprises (i) using the shape of at least the first and second sheets of glass to calculate a first average surface; (ii) using the first average surface to calculate a quench surface of first and second quench modules of the first blasthead; (iii) using the first average surface to calculate a quench surface of a first quench module of the second blasthead; and (iv) using the shape of at least the third sheet of glass to calculate a quench surface of a quench module that replaces a quench module of the first and second blastheads when used to temper the third sheet of glass.

    摘要: An apparatus for tempering a bent glass sheet is disclosed. The apparatus comprises means for conveying the sheet through the apparatus and a pair of blastheads for quenching the sheet with quench gas. Each blasthead comprises a plurality of spaced elongate plenums for supplying quench gas to an array of quench nozzles, the nozzles being mutually inclined to provide diverging jets of quench gas. The plenums extend transversely to the direction of conveyance of the sheet, and the array of nozzles is curved in at least one direction. The array may comprise rows of nozzles extending along lines which are curved in the direction of elongation of the plenums; preferably the curvature of the rows matches the average local curvature of the bent glass sheet in the corresponding direction. Also disclosed is a production line incorporating the apparatus.

    摘要: Glass sheets that have been raised beforehand to their softening point are moved along, progressively giving them a desired bent shape. Between an initial bending phase in which the sheets begin to adopt their shape and a final phase of bending, continuous blowing of air is performed, at a point along the line along which the sheets move, onto at least one face of the glass sheets, under conditions capable of asymmetrically influencing a final concavity of the bent glass sheets by comparison with a concavity that the final bending would have given without the blowing. The bending machine includes at least one nozzle blowing air continuously and arranged at a point on the line along which the sheets move after the sheets have begun to take shape and before the final phase of bending. The at least one nozzle is arranged to blow air asymmetrically onto the sheets.
