A lens made of glass, includes a first surface, a second surface, and a flange. The first surface has a locating portion and a first reference portion abutting against a first positioning object to fix a relative position between the first surface and the first positioning object in an axial direction and a radial direction thereof. The second surface has a second reference portion abutting against a second positioning object to fix a relative position between the second surface and the second positioning object in an axial direction thereof. The flange is formed on an outer periphery around the first surface and the second surface.

A concave lens as an optical component is made of glass containing 20 to 22% of B2O3, 30 to 40% of La2O3, and 19 to 25% of ZnO, expressed as wt %. The concave lens has a thickness t1 in its center portion of 0.5 mm or less, and a ratio (W/t1) of a diameter W with respect to the thickness t1 of 24 or more. The concave lens can be produced suitably by press forming.

When a molded lens is taken out from a molding die, it may be broken or damaged. The present invention provides a molding die comprising an upper die for lens molding, a lower die for lens molding, a support die, and a mold. At least either the upper die or lower die has no flange. The support die is provided below the die having no flanges. One or more through-holes are formed in the support die so that lifting pins can be inserted through the respective through holes. The upper and lower dies and can be slid relative to the mold.

An optical lens press-molded so that within at least the optically effective diameter thereof, the thickness thereof may become greater from the center of the optical axis thereof toward the marginal portion of the lens, characterized in that at least one of the both lens surfaces thereof is a spherical or aspherical concave lens continuous from a transferred surface formed so that in the area outside the optically effective diameter thereof, the thickness of the lens may be limited away from the extension of a curved surface of a radius of curvature setting the optically effective diameter toward the outer diameter of the lens, and forming the transferred surface up to at least the required outer diameter of the lens, and a free surface portion is left outside the outer diameter of the lens during molding.

A method of molding an optical element by pressing glass material uses a cavity composed of a pair of mold members and a side mold member. Either or both of the pair of mold members are rendered slidable along the axial direction of the optical element within the side mold member used during the pressurized molding operation, so that the pair of mold members move in close contact with the contracting glass along the axial direction in the side mold member, during the cooling subsequent to the pressurized molding due to adhesion between the contracting glass and either or both of the pair of mold members. The contraction of the glass during the cooling phase is limited by the adhesive force between the glass and the mold members when at least one of the pair of mold members traverses a gap and reaches a limit of travel; thus tension will be created in the glass.

A preform for an optical element is provided which involves less amount of deformation of glass in molding, and readily improves lifetime of the mold. The present preform for molding an optical glass element 10 exhibits an almost circular shape having a predetermined diameter in top view, exhibits a flattened semicircular shape having a predetermined overall height in side view, has a concave face on the top surface such that the predetermined overall height is attained at approximately the central position of the aforementioned circular shape, and has a concave face so as to fit along the convex face of the top surface such that a space is provided on the bottom face. The under surface may be either a concave face or a convex face. Also, the top surface may be either a concave face or a convex face.

A forming device includes a sleeve member mountable between lower and upper mold units to hold a glass blank and having a stepped sleeve wall that defines first, second and third slot sections, and annular first and second shoulder faces. The second slot section is smaller than the third slot section and larger than the first slot section, and has top and bottom ends connected directly to the third and first slot sections. The first shoulder face extends radially at the junction of the first and second slot section to support the glass blank. A portion of the sleeve wall extends axially and upwardly from the first shoulder face to limit the glass blank from movement. The second shoulder face extends at the junction of the second and third slot sections to hold a lens formed from the glass blank.
摘要:
A method for manufacturing a glass optical element having at least one concave surface, including: softening a glass molding material by heating, molding the softened material with a first mold having a first molding surface and a second mold having a second molding surface by applying a pressure, the first molding surface including a first concave forming surface, the second molding surface including a convex forming surface, a planar forming surface or a second concave forming surface, the second concave forming surface having a curvature radius greater than that of the first concave forming surface, whereby the applying of the pressure starts when the first mold and the second mold are at temperatures above a glass transition temperature of said glass molding material, the glass material is cooled so that a temperature of the glass material reaches a temperature equal to or lower than a glass transition temperature (Tg) of the glass material, and the cooled glass material is removed from either of the first mold or the second mold. A second temperature of the second mold reaches the glass transition temperature prior to a time when a first temperature of first mold reaches the glass transition temperature in the cooling step.

Disclosed is a method of manufacturing glass optical elements such as optical lenses by press molding. Glass optical elements of high surface precision are manufactured while preventing fusion between the pressing mold and the glass material and deterioration of the pressing mold. The method comprises supplying a glass material to a pressing mold, and press molding the glass material with the pressing mold in a non-oxidizing atmosphere and the pressing mold comprises a carbon film formed by sputtering on at least a molding surface, and the glass material comprises a carbon layer on a surface thereof. The method further comprises feeding of the glass material by dropping it onto the molding surface of a lower mold while preventing variation in the thickness of the glass optical elements.
