The device comprises a rotatable drum around which media items may be stored, and a tape reel rotatably mounted on a tape reel shaft and partially wound with tape extending from the tape reel to the rotatable drum. The device further comprises a motor coupled to both the rotatable drum and the tape reel shaft. The motor is operable to rotate in a deposit direction and in a dispense direction. The device comprises a friction clutch coupled to both the tape reel shaft and the tape reel to provide some resistance to rotation of the tape reel relative to the tape reel shaft so that the tape reel cannot rotate freely about the tape reel shaft. The device also comprises a one-way clutch coupled to the tape reel shaft to allow the tape reel shaft to rotate in the dispense direction and to prevent the tape reel shaft from rotating in the deposit direction.

The contact member 58 is held by a contact member holding recess 59 provided in the spacer body 57. A plurality of resin rollers 62 are disposed between the contact member 58 and the contact member holding recess 59. Thereby, the contact member 58 is rotatably held relative to the spacer body 57. Since each winding core 33 can be rotated independently, it is possible to wind webs at a stable winding tension.

A sheet discharging apparatus is constructed of a sorting device and a reversibly conveying device. Normal sheets are fed by the sorting device and conveyed in an arrangement in zigzag in two rows and conveyed on a primary path. Near an exit of the primary path, there is a high speed discharging roller pair having a drive roller and a nip roller. Between the drive roller and the drive shaft, there is a frictional connection unit. While the sheet is conveyed by conveying roller pairs, a front edge of the sheet reaches the high speed discharging roller pair, and the drive roller freely rotate in effect of the frictional connection unit. When a rear edge of the sheet passes the conveying roller pair, the frictional connection unit is set into a connecting situation, and the sheet is discharged by the drive roller and the nip roller.

A friction winding shaft for roll cutting and winding machines in which the shaft frictionally engages tubular winding cores for winding of strip-shaped bands or similar items. A plurality of winding rings adjoin each other as disposed on a central drive shaft. In addition spring-biased winding core holders protrude from and are distributed over the outer ring surface in the form of clamping elements. The clamping elements are seated in recesses of the rings and are capable of pivoting around axes that are parallel to the friction winding shaft axis. The recesses are provided with stop surfaces which limit the pivoting movement of the clamping elements. In order to further increase the application possibilities of the friction winding shaft the recesses are sized and arranged in such manner that the clamping elements, in their center positions, form a circular curve in which the clamping element tips have a diameter dt greater than dw the inside diameter of the winding core.

A winder preferably for winding separate metal strips into coils following slitting a wider strip, comprises a power-operated mandrel and pyramidal sleeves successively mounted on this same mandrel for axial movement. On the pyramidal sleeves, mounted for longitudinal movement thereon are segmental members forming a drum section on each pyramidal sleeve for winding a separate strip. The drum sections are interconnected by split rings having a generally U-shaped cross section and mounted on the power-operated mandrel and between adjacent drum sections are drive rings frictionally engaging the end surfaces of the pyramidal sleeves, whereby axial movement of pyramidal sleeves actuated by a mechanism for imparting such movement thereto brings about setting of the apparatus from a retracted to expanded position and vice versa.
