Abstract:
A bicycle derailleur for operating a chain guide. The derailleur has primary actuator that imparts a primary displacement on the chain guide that has at least a component in an axial direction with respect to an assembly of toothed wheels. The derailleur also has secondary actuator that imparts a secondary displacement on the chain guide that has at least a component in a radial direction with respect to the assembly of toothed wheels. The secondary actuator can operate independently of the primary actuator.
Abstract:
An electromechanical control system for a bicycle has a switch device, the switch device operating a switch between at least three positions. A control communication device transmits signals responsive to operation of the switch. The electromechanical control system includes an operation device configured to respond to signals transmitted by the control communication device. Signals transmitted by the control communication device include commands to listen and commands to operate.
Abstract:
Gear shifting device for a cycle having a chain and pinion transmission is provided, which includes a mobile gear shift assembly adapted to laterally displace the chain for enabling passage from one gear to another gear; transformation elements for transforming rotation of at least one pivoting gear into a lateral displacement of the mobile gear shift assembly; and a control mechanism for controlling lateral displacement of the mobile gear shift assembly. Further, the gear shifting device can include an indexing mechanism to further ensure exact positioning of the gears.
Abstract:
A mechanism involving a bicycle gear shifting apparatus for use with a multiple sprocket gear cluster at the axle of the rear wheel of a bicycle operating on the derailleur principle. An idler assembly is provided adjacent the multiple gear sprocket cluster, wherein a pair of idler sprocket gears are mounted on a movable carrier. Power from the drive chain, which moves the pair of idler sprocket gears, is used to drive an upper and lower set of gears connected to the respective upper and lower idler sprocket gears. Centrally between the upper and lower gears is a central or ''''floating'''' gear which is displaceable from a neutral position into engagement with either the upper or lower gears. When the central gear is displaced to engage either the upper or lower gear, it connects the power train to a driving gear which drives a Leadscrew, threaded so as to cause the movable carrier to move in one direction or the other (towards or away from the rear bicycle wheel). The motion of the carrier displaces the two idler sprocket gears and displaces also the drive chain on the idler sprocket gears so as to carry the chain into engagement with a different sprocket gear on the multiple sprocket gear cluster. Thus, by directing the central ''''floating'''' gear from its neutral disengaged position into engagement with either the upper or lower gears, the carrier, together with the drive chain, is caused to move in a desired direction until the chain engages with a desired one of the multiple sprocket gears, at which time the central gear is released to its neutral disengaged ''''floating'''' position.

Abstract:
A transmission system for vehicles, including bicycles, is disclosed. The system aligns a chain or other drive means to a center of each of a plurality of provided sprockets, allows for a smaller, lighter and more durable shifter/controller, and reduces various complications associated with cable slack and shifting. A derailleur is provided with linear actuated features to directly translate drive means from one position to another along a desired path.

Abstract:
A bicycle gear shift mechanism (8) to be actuated by an electric motor (m) has a carrier for an actuator member (S) comprising a tensioning arm (29) of a derailleur or a shift plunger of a hub gear transmission. According to the invention, the carrier comprises a cursor (27) slidably displaceable on at least two spaced parallel guides (26) mounted at stationary positions with respect to a housing (18). According to a further aspect, a control circuit for the bicycle gear shift mechanism to be actuated by a DC motor comprises a first and a second power control circuit (70,71) controlled by first and second flip-flop circuits (60, 61) the set inputs of which are connected to switches (68, 69) for shifting to higher or lower gear ratios, and the reset inputs of which are adapted to by activated via a switch (65) which is responsive to the gear-engaged state of the gear shift mechanism.
