    摘要: A motorized system is provided for adjusting the vertical height of a container within a base located between front seats of a motor vehicle. A flap which is used as an armrest is pivotally mounted on the housing to close a top opening of the housing. A linear drive linearly moves the container relative to the base along a vertical axis. A positioning drive including a reversible electrical motor has a rotary driveshaft for applying motion to the linear drive. A power transmission in the form of a flexible shaft is coupled to the driveshaft of the motor and a pair of worm gears is coupled to the linear drive. A manually operable switch is provided for selectively coupling the electrical power to the electrical motor to cause the driveshaft to rotate in a desired direction to position the linear drive which, in turn, linearly positions the container within the base.

    摘要: A method of making an interior panel of a vehicle door having an exterior surface which is to face toward the interior of the vehicle when installed therein. The method includes the steps of heating a laminate sheet comprising (1) an outer layer of vinyl sheet and (2) a layer of relatively soft foamed material bonded thereto and vacuum forming the heated laminate sheet in a vacuum mold component oriented so that an arm rest portion of the laminate sheet is the vinyl sheet surface thereof engaged with the mold surface arm rest portion. Next, a preformed pad of foamed elastomeric material having a density in the range of 30 to 45 pounds per cubic foot is mounted on the opposite surface of the arm rest portion of the heated laminate sheet. Thereafter a foamable polyurethane material embedded within a reinforcing mat is heated and cured while all of the mold components to form a panel which includes (1) a substrate defining the opposite surface thereof, (2) an upwardly facing arm rest portion defined on its exterior surface by the vinyl sheet and backed up therebelow by the layer of relatively soft foamed material and the pad of foamed elastomeric material.

A cut-out portion 18 provides a finger hold. The insert may be made from metal and the grooves replaced by mechanical hinges.

A motor vehicle comprises a door 14 hinged at 16 to a fixed body portion 10 of the vehicle, an arm rest 22 on the inside of the door 14, and a door handle mechanism 24, including a vertically pivoted flat plate handle 64, operatively connected with latch means 18 on the door coacting with latch means 20 onthe pillar 10a of the body portion 10, the flat plate handle 64 lying when latched in a substantially vertical plane extending along and parallel to the surface of the side of the door nearest the seat 12. The handle 64 is bolted to a lever 62, which is pivoted on a pin 74 carried by a bracket 60 screwed at 72 to the inner skin (not shown), of the door 14, and which is urged by a spring 86 to the latehed position. The lever 62 has a crank portion 82 pivoted to a latch operating rod 100. The cushion 28 of the arm rest 22 has brackets 50 which are screwed at 44 via a base member 26 of the arm rest 22 to the inner skin of the door 14.
